Must walk up short but steep path to campsite. This site has shade in the morning and sun the the afternoon and is private from the road. There is also a small trail that connects to site 14. Close to the restroom which was very clean for a vault toilet! Would camp here again!

Lovely staff and interesting camping areas. But... TERRRRRRIBLE Poison oak. There was no path that wasn't consumed with it. We have kids, and we won't be back.

Wow, half this campground was completely destroyed by mud and rocks slides. The road was falling into a creek. No one warned us of the condition before arriving. Our reserved campsite had a rushing 2” deep by 4-6” wide newly formed creek going straight down the middle of the site next to the fire pit. The entire site was slightly at a slant from mud being pushed down the mountain due to heavy rain. We had to change sites twice and the one we settled on ended up having to be walked in pretty far from parking since the road collapsed. Really wish someone alerted us before because we would have canceled our reservation and saved ourselves the 8hr round trip drive. I’m going to try to get a credit or our money back. The entire experience was awful.

Great campground, attentive host and staff. Loved the hike up to Cerro Alto summit.

Cerro Alto Is easily one of my favorite campgrounds in the National Forest System. They’re not that many campsite, but they are nestled along a beautiful creek. The campground is quiet, And most of the campsites are away from one another. I camp hosts are always nice, and accommodating.

Went with my partner and 1 year old son. Went to be closer to beach. Campsite 13 was a delight. It was up a hill with steps in a nice secluded area. It had a short pathway in the back that lead to a view of the surrounding hills. Would choose this campsite again.

Lovely place, but some of the campsites are a bit awkward. We got one if those. And there is no potable water.

Great Campground! This is the second time I have stayed here. I only gave it 4 stars for our experience because we had terrible camp neighbors that stayed up all night playing vulgar comedy skits loudly, but this is no fault of the campgrounds. Other than that our experience at Cerro Alto was great.

Great place to camp, hosts were super friendly and made sure everything was clean. Such a beautiful area full of trees. We had no problem with the bathroom smell despite camping right near them. We camped at site 13 and it’s directly adjacent to 14 so be mindful of that. Best site looked like #8 to me, secluded with your own picnic area that’s not shared. The lower numbers seem like better sites than the higher ones. Driving at night can be intimidating due to the one lane road so be careful!!
