The hosts were friendly and helpful. They kept the campground clean and safe. There were plenty of bathrooms. I enjoyed the quiet campground and bird viewing.

The space was large and very clean. Great that careful fires were allowed.
The campground was mostly quiet (a few early morning hikers —- our site was right at the trail head— forgot /didn’t notice that no one was stirring yet at 6 that morning!). We loved the ambiance of our campsite and the privacy.
The host was a warm, considerate soul!

Campsite 18 was lovely! Not too many trails, but the facilities were in very good shape!

We were here midweek, so it was very quiet and cozy. Beautiful well maintained trail is worth the effort. Great campground hosts!

The campsites are literally one. Way too close each other. Too many bugs and flies, no electric, no water, and just way too close to each other. No bbq and no campfire. Only benefit was it was 15 minutes to Morro Bay.

Great little campground - perfectly situated by trips down to Morro Bay. Hosts were very attentive and campground was very clean.

Nice campground with good trail heads. Pit toilets seemed to have been emptied recently. We were there mid-week so it was very quiet. Note the entire place is SWIMMING in poison oak, so keep an eye on your kids or pets.

I love the trail with water flow.

When I travel near Morro Bay, I definitely go to the Cerro Alto Campground.
It is because there are mountains near the beach and it is cool.
I like to go hiking and take a walk on the beach.

Wonderful walk-in site. Friendly and helpful camp hosts. Very clean bathroom and campgrounds. I will stay again, God willing. Only 12.5 minutes from the Pacific Ocean by auto 👍⛺️‼️ Came for 2 nights- stayed 8🥰

We loved site #18. It was huge and flat, close enough to bathrooms and had easy access to our vehicle. The area was shared by site 19 with not even a tree or Bush separating the two sites so if you had two families with kids those two sites would be ideal. There were several sites at the actual turnaround that are super close to each other with zero privacy so unless you're cool with that I do not recommend those sites. For a group they'd be awesome. Then there are several sites where you literally have to climb up a whole flight of steps to get to the site where the picnic table and fire ring are located. One or two sites were along side of the narrow road. So traffic passing by would be an issue. So just choose your location carefully. The camp hosts were really great. Took very good care of the facilities and were friendly and eager to make sure everyone was having a nice time. The road is very narrow and curvy. Use caution when driving. It got very windy a couple of times. It's a 15 drive to a taco bell and hardware store. The main road does have deer crossing it so be aware. Saw one make it across alive and one who didnt. The hikes from the campground are awesome especially in spring because the wildflowers were abundant. We went counterclockwise from the trailhead at site 16. Ended up being a 7.5 mile loop that way. Most important thing that we discovered that we were not prepared for was that there was NO potable water available in the campground! I guess it had tested badly and signs were posted saying not to use it for drinking. So we had to go buy extra water. But luckily we had enough for the first night and we bought some in town the next day.

Such a great campground. Our only issue was inconsistent signage on the water spouts. Some said the water wasn’t potable. The one nearest had no sign at all. Was it drinkable? We needed to top off our water but didn’t as no campground host was around while we were there to inquire with.

Lovely small campground. We stayed at site 18, by the creek and close to the trailhead to Cerro Alto. The site was shaded, flat and with plenty of room for 3 tents. We'll be back for sure.
