Wonderful experience! The sites were clean and well-maintained. The toilets, wash areas and trash receptacles were clean and well equipped.Camp Hosts Sydney and Jason were friendly, well-informed and professional.I loved the loop trail and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of birds and trees. We loved Cerro Alto so much that we're going back in three weeks :-)Note: There could probably be more "poison oak warning" signs.

Lower numbered sites are very private with trees or hills separating them from others.

Great host, great off season camping with only a few other campers. Wonderful hiking from the campground. We are in a 25 ft travel trailer and there were only a couple of sites we could fit into.

The best camp hosts Ive experienced so far! They were very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Sites 1-7 have a good amount of shade. I wouldnt recommend site 21 for tent camping. The cerro alto peak hike is highly recommended for an incredible view of the ocean from the top.

Wonderful campground, awesome hiking trails on site with various degrees of difficulty. Pet friendly, and very friendly camp hosts! We loved the quick and beautiful drive into Morro Bay, and we had so much fun taking our dogs to town to play on the beach. My boyfriend and I would love to come back for another vacation, but we will not stay in 21 again. 21 is nestled between 20 and 22, which would be great if you have a large group going and need to reserve sites next to each other, or if you need to be right next to a parking spot and restrooms. 21 has very little shade from about 10am to 6pm and it gets pretty hot during the day. So bring a pop up shade if you plan to hang out in camp during the afternoons! We stayed mid week to Saturday, and it was very clear there is totally different vibe going on on the weekends. Wednesday and Thursday night were quiet and peaceful, Friday night was jam packed and one of our neighbors was loud until 1am. Also, I'm not sure exactly what was going on, but many people came to camp around our area that were overflow? They basically got to camp in random areas for a discounted rate without access to a fire pit/grill. Which is fine, but more and more people kept showing up and our campsite was basically right next to the overflow area. So again, we won't chose 20, 21, or 22. If you are like my boyfriend and I, and you want to enjoy a peaceful camping trip, I suggest trying to get campsite 14,16, 23, or 24. Those seemed to be really awesome sites, still close enough to bathrooms, but without as many neighbors and plenty of shade.

We’ve been here a couple of times now and would really like to love it. But we can’t. The sites are mostly bed and the smell of the bathroom seems ever present regardless of the site you have.

Our site was pretty lame. Just a parking spot and a picnic table w the fireplace out at the end of the road. The toilets were pit style and pretty bad. The road in is only wide enough for 1 car. Saw a huge motor home get stuck at the front and had to back out onto the main road. Not my favorite by far, but we needed a stopover there, so I guess I'm still glad it was there. Other sites looked way better. We got pretty much the worst one.

Some of the sites in this campground are beautiful. We were not so lucky. There is a reason no photos of site 21 are available - it is forcibly placed between sites 20 and 22 in an open field alongside a parking lot which fills with day use guests adjacent to the camp hosts home. There is not a single hint of shade or privacy. The fire pit and grill for the neighboring site was so close to ours we could warm ourselves by our neighbors fire. There was also a 1.5 deep ditch running through the site just outside of our tent door causing a huge hazard at night. We asked the camp host to place our tent about 20 behind the actual site to take advantage of a tree since we had no shade. The gentleman told us it would be ok and then his wife came over and contradicted herself multiple times with varying excuses as to why we shouldnt have our tent there (first it was birdwatchers would be using the area in the morning - which never happened - then it was the space wasnt a campsite so we couldnt have our tent there - and then finally she came back to tell us if we kept our tent there we would not be allowed to touch our fire ring, table, or grill). So we could sleep in shade but would need to starve for the weekend. The icing on the cake came 2 hours later when a car pulled in and unloaded a tent and made camp just next to where we had asked to be by a group who clearly hadn't paid for a reservation like we had. It was a very unpleasant experience overall. I would highly recommend avoiding at all costs sites 20, 21, or 22. The hiking trail was lovely and it was nice to be in the middle of a beautiful area (we drove into Paso Robles for a bit of wine tasting). With another site Im sure our stay would have been much more pleasant.
