Cerro Alto is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I've ever stayed in. Large campsites, very clean and quiet. Beautiful surroundings. I will definitely be back. Thanks.

I had an amazing time at this campsitedefinitely a 5/5 experience. It was quiet, peaceful, and totally secluded, which made it perfect for introverts or anyone just looking to unplug and enjoy nature without neighbors nearby. We heard and saw wildlife, and the whole area felt like we were deep in the forest. The beach is only about a 15-minute drive away, which was a great bonus.A heads-up though: the road leading in is very narrow and winding, so I wouldnt recommend it if youre an inexperienced driver or if youre bringing a big truck. It can be a bit nerve-wracking getting in and out. If youre staying at Site 8 like we did, I recommend using the bathrooms to the south. The western bathrooms were pretty much inaccessible on foot because of water running through the road. There is some poison oak near the creek and nettle in the grass, so if you have small kids or dogs, youll want to be extra cautious. The site is down in a valley, so it gets pretty cold at nightdefinitely bring extra blankets or something to keep warm while sleeping. One last thing: I didnt see any trash bins around, so make sure to bring a trash bag and pack everything out.All in all, it was such a beautiful, peaceful spot and Ill be back!

We like this campground since it is relatively quiet and close to Morro Bay.The outhouse was extremely dirty and the large dumpster adjacent to it was full. The smell was very bad.

I like the campground, and my hike on the trail was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the vault toilets were overly full. The employee of the company the Forest Service contracts with to run the campground told me that only one business will clean them out because people put trash in them, so they had to wait until the one guy would come to do the job.

Very lowkey spot with minimal campers. Many wildlife birds. Nice campgrounds and friendly hosts.

It was our second time at Cerro Alto and we decided to bring the little siblings for their first camping experience. Everyone had a blast. Campsite was clean and host was very friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

We loved this camping experience! Great but brutal hike to the top of Cerro Alto, and great mountain biking. We also loved Morro Bay activities. Hope to come back soon to scuba dive and whale watch!

Site 8 was away from other sites which was great for our family with a dog. The trail we went on was challenging with a rewarding view!

Friendly host and comfortable campsite. Perfect distance from Morro Bay or Atascadero. Thank you!

The campgrounds were kept clean and the host was responsive and helpful. Not too many critters around at night that we experienced so you don’t have to worry to much about animal’s going through your things, but the location definitely had a lot of birds! The trails were also kept clean. We also didn’t experience too many insects, we went in the middle of March. Overall great campground and close to a largely populated town if you’re not looking for a campsite that’s too remote.

We enjoyed this small campground. We had site #8 which is totally secluded and no neighbors. We on a 7 mike hike walking from our site. Beautiful panoramic views at the top. Host was great to come by and greet us on arrival. Only problem was asking reservation, needs a lot of improvement. We planned to stay 2 nights, booked for Thursday night and the site said first-come first-served, so we thought we would have no problem. To our surprise someone was able to book for Fri night. The host said they have problems with that, because the di release the sites a couple of days before the date. Host made every attempt to accommodate us, suggesting we pull our trailer to parking lot for second night.

Great isolated site and campground location was close to city amenities, while being immersed in nature.
