Clean restroom, beautiful campground, amazing experience.

The park is well maintained and almost pristine, despite it's high traffic. We camped from Monday to Wednesday and found only three other campers (out of 72 sites.) However, almost every site was reserved for the following weekend.

Beautiful location near Ojai! Chilly in November but still had a nice time.

It was nice, but as a child-free couple with a site near the creek, it was pretty loud with kids yelling and hollering and having a great time. Im not against it, and thats my bad for booking a spot in such a family friendly campground, it just was you know loud. But if you have kids, it sounds like a fun place for them!Beware though, lots of poison oak (like - LOTS). My husband came home with a rash on his neck, even though we thought we had avoided it entirely Overall though, clean campground with great camp hosts who were regularly patrolling the grounds. Vault toilets were clean and there are a few dumpsters throughout the grounds to throw out your trash. No cell service, but our Starlink for RVs service worked relatively well, given the tree cover and the fact were in a gorge.

This is a great campground (if you get the right site). Can be hot, so bring shade canopies. Some sites do have plenty of shade though - it all depends on the site! The creek had water even during a drought year, but it's still low level and stagnant water, so not really okay for kids to play in. Best sites in my opinion: 35 is gorgeous, shady and super private/isolated. 36/37 is the premier best spot in the campground. Get that one. It's the best. 38 can be added onto 36/37 for a perfect set-up for groups. 39 is fantastic as well. 41 and above look great, but they're getting close to the road. Firewood is available for purchase from camp host for $10 a bundle. The visitor center across the street is a cute experience for kids. The town is a bit of a drive (20-30 minutes) for re-supplying ice and other items, so that's a drag if you didn't come prepared or need more ice or water.

This was the cleanliest campground I've been to in California. The bathrooms were cleaned what seemed like 3 times a day. The grounds are beautiful with most campsites having plenty of shade and privacy from your neighbors. I'd return.

Wheeler Gorge is one of my favorite campgrounds in Ventura County. The camp hosts were helpful, the site is well maintained, several hikes just a short drive away. We liked site 38 because it was near the creek and almost like having two sites.

The creek running under the trees through the campground creates a little paradise. The 'trail' is reallly short. Beware of the poison oak! Toilets were super clean. I lovve this campground

No potable water available. Closest convenience store is 10-15 min drive. Ridiculous. Noisy neighbors/highway heard with large construction trucks. poor signage. What am I paying $$ for again??

We have normally stayed at site 39 due to it had shade, easy access to water, and you could reserve it online. Due to construction our reservation for 39 got canceled, so we decided to try site 38. We have a new favorite site now. This site has a ton of shade, is a good size, and has easy access to the water. The flys were annoying, even with bug spray. If you have a screened awning, I would suggest bringing it to put over the picnic table. Due to fire restrictions we were not able to have a campfire or bbq, which was a bummer, but it was also understandable. We barbecued our hamburgers and hot dogs ahead of time and then heated them up with our propane stove (which is allowed) when we got there. Put your food in your car at night. We forgot one night and woke up to a raccoon munching on a bag of Chex mix! The nature trail was nice and clear, so if you get a chance, go enjoy a short hike.

They lied on the reservations.. there was no first come first serve campsites although the website clearly said there were about ten of these available. I was only able to reserve Thursday night for my three night stay and was going to transfer over to another campsite but nope .. everything was booked. I would have not stayed here if the website hadn’t lied about other “first come first serve” .. won’t come here again

Site N. 38 is really close to Site N.37 not very private, but really nice looking. I recommend for big parties that are thinking about getting more than one camp site, N. 37 & 38 for one large group would be phenomenal. We ended up switching to N. 34 which is crazy good! Private and right next to the creek
