The campsite we were at was basically on the highway. Be careful booking the sites close to the road because it's right next to it and loud. Feels sort of dangerous.

It was very pretty and quiet. You could hear the water from the creek and the view of the stars was amazing. Our camp site was right next to the road, not too noisy but can see cars driving by or people riding their bikes, there was no fence and people could just walk in

Really beautiful campground, would recommend camping across the river as the sites by the road are about 10 feet from the loud road.

Our first time at Wheeler Gorge exceeded our expectations. We took the last campsite available last minute and was immediately upgraded into one of the more popular sites once we were greeted by Becky the camp host. What a welcome! We enjoyed the weekend in the peaceful and well-maintained campgrounds. Upon leaving, not only had I lost my wedding band, but our vehicle didn't start. Not a great end to the trip. (Unsolicited advice, definitely don't bring your wedding rings.) However, as we were waiting for AAA, one of the camp maintenance people raked our entire site helping to look for the ring, which unfortunately we didn't find. And then, to cheer us up we watched football at the camp hosts' awesome set up with Murphy (the most loveable dog I've ever met), drank some beers, and was offered wings by the very gracious host, Bob. I mean... what a turnaround to the days events. We were so grateful for their hospitality, friendliness, and help that day. Can't wait to return! -Stef and Keith

Hosts were awesome--They sell firewood bundles ($10), good sites by the creek, just beware of high wind and the strange 3 night minimum

No running water at any time. Your signs say to drowned your campfire, but you dont even have water. The camp holes Michelle, Randy, and another gentleman were all very nice. When we arrivedThe trash bins were sealed and overflowing outside the bins for a couple days which was pretty gross. We did have a beer siding, and the camp hosts came around and advised us which was nice. The bathrooms were as clean as they could be for as many people that was up there. No cell service of any kind which is a safety matter. It was beautiful, very warm, And we did have a good time.I brought my RV and I was in spot number six, and had to put the back wheels up on tire lifts which ended up sinking into the Pavement that was uneven and had a lot of holes. I would still recommend this place to many campers, because the camp hosts Were awesome and the cost was very reasonable. We did have a relaxing time And its very primitive. But, I enjoyed that part of it too. Thank you, James

Very well kept. Bathrooms were clean. We had a great time and the person in charge of the place was the friendliest man ever, as well as very helpful. We will definitely come back.
