The experience at Wheeler Gorge campground was wonderful!! The sites are private enough, but the sound of Matilaja stream was terrific!! we slept like babies. The campground hosts were great, helpful and informative.

I have driven past Wheeler Gorge Campground more times than I can count, and I finally booked two sites here for a family camping trip. I was super impressed. Sites 25 and 26 are great to book if you want two sites that are right next to each other and have walk through access. The hosts kept the campground clean and the restrooms (vault toilets) were not smelly at all. There is plenty of shade from the beautiful oak trees, and the creek running through the campsite is so peaceful and beautiful. I will definitely book here again.

very peaceful and beautiful place, except for drinking water, because there is no water and electricity.

The campsites are very pleasant, the only drawback I found was the proximity of a highway the ran along the length of the camps. Being that I camped at a spot where the road was less than 50' from my tent, the occasional vehicle passing by in the night tended to wake me up. In the future I would probably look to reserve a site that is on the other side of the creek that runs through the camp. Other than that the camp was clean, facilities were conveniently placed, and the host even had cords of wood available for sale.I look forward to my next visit.

This place is a gem! The camp hosts are incredibly friendly and thorough driving by frequently to make sure everything is just right. Absolutely no cellular service here so it is a true getaway.

I've stayed here before and it's always a wonderful experience. Our camp host, Amy, was incredibly nice and accommodating. She was there for us when we needed her and out of our way when we didn't.
