Had spot 42. Brought my 1.5 year old. Hung lights on the big live oak tree in the middle of the site. Lots of flat space at this site to set up a larger tent. We brought a 9 person tent with a foot print of about 18’x9’ . It fit perfectly under the tree. The camp host crew were great. Firewood is $10 a bundle so if you intend to spend an extra $80-100 on the weekend bring your own firewood. We were there mid April and the bugs were not bad. We felt comfortable enough to leave for a few hours with our site unattended because of the way the campground is laid out and the seemingly secure front gate. No issues there. Good spot for your family.

Camp hosts are always super helpful and nice. Bathrooms are very convenient and close to every campsite, yet far away enough to not smell up the sites. The fallen trees and rocks make for a fun walk down the creek, and a beautiful view. Absolutely love the comfort of this camp, feels like being hugged by angels being here. Beware of critters though, bear encounters have been more common than not lately. Im thinking that this may be in part because its the season before their hibernation period and with the fire bans, mr. Smokey is a little tooo comfortable roaming through busy campsites. Always be prepared though, know what to do and what not to do, dont leave food out EVER, u know the deal. All in all, Wheeler gorge has become my home away from home and I absolutely adore everything about the campground!! 10/10 recommend

There was a very loud group very close to ys. They were so loud all night long till midnight. It was horrible! Other than the place is very nice and the creek is running. You can swim in it.
