This campground is very clean and well kept. The area is full of gorgeous walks and waterfalls. The stream that runs though the campground is tranquil. Be warned the campground is always full with only a few walk up sites.

The campground overall was excellent; well-maintained pit toilets, wonderful creek, our preschooler had a wonderful time! Site 58 was decent, but not amazing (hence 4 stars instead of 5). Pros: close to the stream (loved falling asleep to the sound of water and frogs), nicely sized trees for hammocks (could have hung two), good shade in the morning, nearby bathroom and dumpster, close to *some* creek access via the creek vehicle crossing.Cons: not very private, immediate creek access was verrrrrrrry steep (was tricky for adults to get down there-- kids needed assistance), very sunny in the afternoon, grate over the fire was bent enough that we didn't bother trying it.We will definitely be coming back to Wheeler Gorge again (already have two more trips planned!), but would not stay in 58 again unless other, better sites were not available. Just don't know which sites that would be yet!

Had a memorable stay at this spacious sight right by the gorge. Very relaxing sound of creek all along. Restrooms were well maintained. Host was very helpful.
Make sure to keep adequate water with you, since the campsite does not have water.

Stayed at 58 for 2 nights. Spacious site compared to some others we saw, right by creek, trees to hang couple hammocks and offered shade. Right by bathroom but didn’t smell the bathroom. Access to creek a bit steep but my 6 year old was able to get up and down just fine. Didn’t see poison oak around this site. Site didn’t offer too much privacy but I liked that it was not along the main road through the campground. Neighbor got a visit from the resident bear one evening. One downside is there’s no water at the campground. I got water from creek for washing and cleaning. Overall loved the site and had a great time.

Campgrounds and bathrooms were clean. The first camp host was helpful but the replacement was never seen. There were faucets but the water was turned off which made a multiple day trip a little tricky.

This is one of the most well maintained and secluded camping experience in the area

We had a great time at Wheeler Gorge -- camping with the sound of the stream was very nice. We did a hike to the Piedra Blanca formations -- fabulous. Note that you do have to rock hop cross the Sespe river.
