Wheeler Gorge is a great place to get away. The campground is right next to Highway 33. Campsites include a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and some come with a separate bbq grill. Not much in terms of amenities - firewood for sale ($10), vault toilets with tp, and no running water. Camp hosts are friendly and keep the place clean - these are the cleanest vault toilets Ive ever encountered; they do however, leaf-blow campsites Campsite 35 is a gem - large, shaded, mostly flat, and right next to the creek. Although you have no adjacent neighbors, you will be able to see and hear your neighbors across the creek and the highway beyond. The restroom and garbage is a bit of a walk uphill, nothing too bad though. Overall great experience!

Great place with friendly people and staff. Nice rocky area so make sure you put something down for the floor of your tent. Nice views and many pools along the road and trail to swim in. There is a nature walk with placards near the end of the campground but please watch out for rattlesnakes. Overall its a great place with no reception to help unplug. Will be going again next year.

Beautiful site, running stream, nice camping for tents and small RV.
Lovely short hike up the canyon.
Pleasant staff. Slightly close to road by necessity but doesn’t detract from experience.

The host is a kind woman. Site 35 is private, far from the highway and near the creek.
The fire ring is a little bit small and lots of ashes were retained inside.
BTW, we saw a black bear approaching twice. So be cautious at nightfall and avoid sitting back to the creek where I saw the bear climbing up.

Location, location, location! Quick drive north from LA! Creek side sites snuggled within the mountains surrounded by a starry night sky. The camp hosts really go out of their way to answer questions, offer tips, and make the stay enjoyable for all!! Lovely retreat!!

Good times. Number 35 is a beautiful campground. Right next to the creek! The water fall was sooooo loud! It was awesome! The entire ground and unleveled and rocky, kind of hard to find a spot to set up camp. Still beautiful tho ??????
