Road up to site 02 was washed out and we couldnt get our camper up to the spot! We bottomed out right before the creek and the tongue was digging in. In addition a huge hole in the main road right at the entrance to the campground. Couldnt see it since the road was flooded from the creek flowing into it. Other than that, it was a beautiful stay! An easy hike to see the waterfall. Lots of wildlife! Annoying thing was the day use people who felt they could park in the campground at yours and your neighbors site!

We went up and stayed at rose valley campground during the A-32 Archery deer hunt . Very nice area . Campsite was nice and level perfect for pitching tents . We did not get a deer but just being up there for a few days was relaxing . There is a trailhead up to the falls right out of the campground . Also they do have bear proof trash cans which was nice . Have to bring your own water but thats no big deal . There is one pit toilet .

We stayed in campsite 2 on a Friday/Saturday night in mid October. What we liked: Out of all the campsites, we liked ours the best. It's up on a bit of a hill and seemed the most removed from the others. The views of the surrounding mountains are just beautiful. The bathrooms were relatively clean as far as pit toilets go. What we didn't like: Glass EVERYWHERE! We had our pups with us and I didn't even want them to wander around camp because there was sooo much broken glass. WTF is wrong with people?! Although this is a smaller campground (something we liked because we prefer to typically disperse camp over a campground) it was filled with lots of riff raff and about only have the sites were occupied. One of the sites had about 40 loud drunk dudes, with eight cars at one site, playing loud mariachi music and even shot off a gun in the campground at one point. Morons. Another site, the campers were having an illegal open fire even though there was a fire ban and it was a hot October weekend. This campground is also very popular with day hikers and OHV users. Constant traffic in and out of the campground allll day long. If you are looking for a chill, peaceful camping experience... This is NOT the spot to go to. We definitely will not be returning. Too bad Park Rangers can't make the occasional stop in to make sure folks aren't acting a fool.

At the gate, by campsite #2, we took a 2 mile up hill hike to see an incredible view. Nothing like getting back to nature.

Campground was completely empty on weekdays except for visitors to waterfall. Waterfall walk was easy and water was still falling.

The waterfall makes this campground great. Some sites are tough to get a trailer parked, but quiet with dark skies for stars.

Sign indicating turn off for campsite was damaged from recent fires and we missed our turn off for campsite. Went way too far and had to ask for directions from a helpful hiker. The space we were in, #2 was amazing but very difficult to get a trailer into. I would advise those with trailers to book any other site. #2 was apart from the rest and on an incline. Great for privacy but bad for maneuvering. Also no signs marking trail head to waterfall or other trails. Probably gone due to fire but not replaced yet. It is 100% dry camping, so bring your own water supply. No hook ups. Be prepared to boondock.

This is a beautiful little campground and we had a wonderful time.
The only disturbance was when a large family arrived on Saturday and tried to falsely claim that they had reserved a site next to ours when actually it was first-come, first-serve. Two girls had already paid the camp host for the site all weekend on Friday night and were out for the day. The family set up camp around the poor girls' tent by the time they came back, and again lied to say that we gave them permission to do it. Then both they and a second campsite nearby lit huge campfires, even though it was illegal due to severe fire restrictions (the whole state was on fire at the time!). We felt very uncomfortable the whole time and no ranger showed up on Saturday at all to enforce anything. He didn't arrive until late Sunday morning when it was much too late, and even then the woman from the family group was extremely rude to him as well.
Overall, it's a great campground but with it being so remote a daily check (or twice daily on weekends) could prevent conflict caused by bullies as well as reduce the risk of wildfire.
