We drove by the road to Reyes Peak and went up the road to the top of Pine Mountain Ridge and decided to camp there as we were concerned there would be gnats at the Reyes Creek Campground. We had a great time there and then decided to go to Reyes Creek Campground to check it out and have our lunch there. The campground is very uninviting....sites close together and not much shade except for a few sites. The gnats were unbelievable...enough to drive you insane. We drove through the entire place (only one camper there) and left the place. We'd never camp there.

The road was closed but it was late dark and we were far from home. I wish they would have canceled or let us know how terrible the weather was. I checked two different weather forecast and it did not reflect accurate weather reports at all! It said it was going to be in the 60s -70s but it was freezing and it was raining. My children and I werent able to set up camp. We slept uncomfortably in the car. Well they did, I was up turning the heater on periodically and waiting for morning so we could leave. I would have liked a warning or at least an immediate refund. However, I filed about two weeks ago and am waiting to hear back. The site was lovely to bad we couldnt enjoy it.

We had a great site (#19) Some of our neighbors were a bit rowdy but everyone did respect the quiet hours. The trash bin near our site was full and overflowing, so we had to walk our trash to another bin, that shouldn't happen. Sadly, people were just dumping trash outside the bin.Be aware, there is NO cell service

This is my favorite campground in the Los Padres National Forest! Its an easy drive up from LA through Frazier Park, and just beautiful in the spring. There was lots of water in the creek and my daughters had a great day playing. Site 19 is definitely the best site. Be sure to bing bug spray and more water than you think youll need. JADE IS THE BEST CAMPGROUND HOST! I am very grateful for her!

Site 19 is the best site in the campground in my opinion. All shade, parking right next to site (which isnt the case for adjacent campsites), right next to the creek, close enough to the trail, and since we had no one take our neighboring sites, perfectly secluded from the rest of the campers. Jade was such a chill and cool host - informative of everything you need to know. Bathroom was kept stocked which was a relief for us because we forgot to bring our own toilet paper. Would definitely recommend and come back to this campground and book Site 19! <3

This place is definitely a hidden gem!! Only about 2 hours (with traffic) from LA. We stayed at site 19 which was perfect! Total shade, right next to the creek, with trees to set up a hammock.
Beware there are no showers (which we didn’t mind, there is always the creek) and can get hot at other sites with no shady trees!
The creek seemed to slow down in the late afternoon and pick up again in the morning which was odd but overall I would definitely come back.
The camp host was amazing and very tentative!

I've been coming to Reyes Creek to camp since the late 1970's. Every year we come to Reyes Creek at least once or twice a year. My group of relatives come from different cities, from Delano, Victorville and I come from Chino Hills.
I noticed that since the new management took over, the campground and all the campsites are very well maintained, much better than what it used to be years ago. I have no complains at all, on the contrary, the personnel maintaining Reyes Creek are doing a great job and they are very attentive. keep up the good job!

It was a nice and quiet place, you can hear the creek all day and night which is relaxing. Has a beautiful view of the creek and the camp hosts were amazing. We went to camp scheideck Bar and Grill and decorated dollar bills and stapled it on the wall for memories. The neighborhood dog also came by to visit us. Dog friendly as long as they're on a leash. Overall we had an awesome time at Reyes Creek Campground.

The campground is a unique experience for camping. Nestled along a brook it offers a combination of shaded and open campsites with direct access to a relatively easy collection of hiking trails. The unique aspect of it is that it was established just beyond the Scheideck Lodge established over a 100 years ago that today is a really pleasant off-the-beaten path bar which makes for a nice break from nature if needed. You can read a great recounting of it here https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-09-17-vl-739-story.htmlThe campground is generally quite well maintained and the manager is really friendly and even called us a few days before warning us that it might be very cold and because there was a no fire condition meaning we couldn't have a campfire, we could cancel our reservation if we needed to as a result.A word of caution. We camped in mid November and were assaulted by very pesky small flies (gnats?). They didn't bite but with dozens of them flying around each of us, they got in our mouths, ears and eyes. Thankfully they are most active around sunset and disappeared as it grew dark and cold so that we could enjoy our dinner peacefully. If that sort of thing bothers you, bring a mosquito netting head cover. For those seeking a more scenic and natural experience, I would recommend Reyes Peak campground, though I wouldn't try to get there at the end of a long day in the dark as the long access road is very narrow and winds circuitously up the mountain for miles.
