I must say that this is a great place to camp. Its so beautiful. Please remember, there is no water here. So please bring your water. The restrooms were okay. A lot of flies coming out of the vaults. If you have a privacy tent with a bucket, bring it. Its better. I will most likely come back again. The weather was perfect; low 70s and at night low 50s. The view from our site was spectacular. Good view to experience the sun rise. During the nights, you felt you could touch the stars. Amazing place! As far as the actual site, it's very spacious. There's space for like 3 tents. Note, the area is not completely flat. See you soon McGill Campground.

Just needed a place to crash after hours of the best telescoping skies inside of a 3 hour drive from LA/OC. So glad it's not trashed like so many other SoCal campgrounds.

Great campsite! Very clean and well kept. Close to town so you get full cell reception at the campsite, which was really nice. Firewood is available from the camp host. Definitely make sure you bring shade!! The pine trees help but it gets hot up there.we brought a shade tent and dont know what we would have done without it! There are no close by bodies of water (rivers/creek/lakes) which was a bummer considering it was so dry and hot during the day. The closest lake for recreation is pyramid lake which is about a 35-45 minute drive up the freeway, or you can drive farther into the mountain range towards the coastline which is also a good amount of driving. Definitely prepare for the hot daytime and bring lots of water (no running water access at the campsite). There are various trail heads to explore for fun. Great site for a quick overnight trip to escape the city, but not sure i would want to have an extended stay here, considering the lack of activities. For fellow remote workers, the signal is strong enough to hotspot your phone and use a laptop, which you cant beat! Overall nice little campsite.

I love the higher elevation in the summer and come here to escape the heat from down below. There a few hiking trails, or it is just nice to sit by the fire and read or play games. The view from the top of Mt. Pinos is an awesome sight, especially if you are brave enough to go at sunset and come back down the trail while twilight. Regarding campsites, there are a few that are great and some not so great as the driveway length will only hold 1 car, others hold 2. Choose wisely if booking online, they do show the length at each site and overflow parking is a bit of a hike. Only cons are vault toilets and no water, bring your own. Also, the weather can change quickly so be prepared, we had 28 degrees and hail last weekend, first weekend in June. Have fun!
