Such a cool place to stay! Would not advise driving to it at night for the first time, a little spooky. Wed still love to come back though!

I stayed at this cabin when bicycling through this area. First off, this area is excellent for cycling, beautiful country, paved roads (careful of incredible potholes though), no traffic, and lots of trains (yes!). The cabin was a very nice peaceful getaway. Had everything I needed for a comfortable night, just tossed my sleeping bag on the downstairs fold-out futon. Well stocked kitchen for cooking, comfy couch, big loft with 3 beds, clean and neat. Modern vault outhouse. There is a creek right in front to clean up in after a long sweaty ride and to get drinking water (for filtering or boiling to drink). Will stay there again!

We had hoped to do some snowshoeing but the snow was pretty melted, but we managed to do a nice 9 mile hike. We really enjoyed the fire pit. On our way home we stopped at the brewery in Libby for a great lunch and Kootenai Falls.

The cabin was actually great for us, but not for citified folks who havent been exposed to gas lanterns, Forgotten, flashlights, no Internet, Unexpected, broken mops and dont really want to get down on their hands and knees with a rag to clean the floors.

Nice comfortable cabin. Paved road to the driveway. Need to know several thousand acres of private land in the area is now closed to public use. Money has come to town and country. Thanks Wolf Prairie!

Excellent place to stay. The propane stove and furnace worked well. There were no insects or rodents in the cabin. The previous guests left the place very clean as did we. We swept well and boiled creek water to mop the floor. The kitchen pots, pans and dishes were minimal so bring what you need. We enjoyed the campfire (brought our own wood), horseshoes, quick dip in the creek and laughter with family. It was nice that the dog could be with us. Remember to bring your own water and flashlights. I wish we would have brought bikes.

Beautiful place. Peaceful and serene. The cabin was so clean and pretty. Nice and warm. We had a perfect weekend!

Unfortunately we were not able to get to the cabin, we had a family emergency, but recreation.gov was a pleasure to work with and we will be staying here in the future for sure!

It was a nightmare. 7 degrees the first night, and the heater wouldn't work. We had to rely on the stove burners for heat, and then the fridge started leaking water all over the floor. We had the cabin for two nights. After trying to sleep the first night in our full hunting gear, and still seeing your own breath, we left. Another night of torture avoided. This cabin might be fun in the summer, but not at all for winter time. If you are going up during hunting season, I suggest that you bring your own propane heater. I hope they liked the free money because we left early.

We had such a wonderful time. The cabin is beautiful. I am planning another visit already. The only thing I would suggest is getting the double bed upstairs fixed. It is very noisy.

Was a great time we spent there. Our timing could have been better though..way too much snow for much exploring. Beautiful and quiet.

Exactly what I expected when I booked it. Stayed in Jan 2022. The biggest complaint I read about was people being mad that random people stop by to use the toilet, which it is clearly a public forest service toilet. Instruction for how to operate all propane appliances were clear and concise. Light is minimal and none upstairs (rec bringing head lamps and table lantern). The cabin got plenty warm with just the propane stove and it was 0 deg F over night. Called the ranger station a week before our stay and they were able to give accurate description of road conditions (intermittently plowed by BNSF RR in winter, paved road with compacted snow/ice on the whole surface, no steep grades or super sketchy sections, NEED 4WW/AWW vehicle in winter, rec chains if going when actively snowing).

This was our second year here, much more snow this year. Beautiful as always. Thank you to everyone who came before us and treated this place as it should be, with respect and care. It was bitterly cold but the fire place kept us comfortable.

9/2 - 9/6/21. I love this cabin! The stove, fridge and gas fireplace work great! Nice big windows. Spent hours on the front porch reading, knitting, watching the butterflies and listening to the creek and coyotes. Sunrises were gorgeous.
Was disappointed with people stopping by to use the toilet two different times. We were gone for 1/2 hour and returned to a group of 12 on ATV’s inside the fence having a picnic and wandering around the cabin. They were surly when asked to leave.
If the driveway could be chained or gated for privacy, I would give 5 stars.

Great cabin. Railroad tracks are close, but the train noise was not bad. One of the beds was a fold down chair. All said a wonderful facility and will rent again.

Very beautiful cabin and setting. The only thing that was tough for us was the strong smell of propane. We opened most of the windows to try and air it out but the smell still hit pretty hard when first walking in the door.
We did enjoy our stay - loved being by the river and the fire pit outside was awesome! Train tracks are pretty busy but didn't really bug us.
