We loved our stay at Sunset. Big spots and well located to visit General Grant and Kings Canyon

We loved the site! Although it was listed for a large tent, it wasn’t level enough for our REI Kingdom 8 with the vestibule and garage. So my husband and son leveled it a bit more so we could at least use the garage portion. You can hop on the trail to the General Grant at the top of the site which was great.
The only downside is that there was literally no camp host or ranger present often. Therefore, quiet hours were not enforced and it definitely got loud.

Great space, beautiful area! But the camp host was noticeably absent all 4 nights we were there. There was a large group across from us playing loud music all day and night and staying up making noise well after 10pm, night after night. It made for a much less enjoyable experience considering we go out there to get away from crowds and noise. But otherwise a beautiful campground, if only the host enforced the rules!

Amazing experience. There's a market nearby, in case you forget something. :)

This was a good camping spot, sheered and pretty, and central to both halves of the park - Sequoia and Kings Canyon with the Grant Grove very nearby, It was also nice to be close to Grant Village and the camping store. The camping spot was quiet enough, even though relatively close to the road. Food storage space in the anti-bear cabinet was more than adequate and close enough to the table and campfire ring and parking spot. There is plenty of space to the neighboring campsites, and the whole campground was very scenic - and deer were sighted crossing through the campground more than once. Fellow campers were well-behaved and courteous. All the rangers we met were very helpful. It was a delightful camping vacation
