If you are wanting quiet and a back to nature experience do not camp at Sunset. Our site was so close to both sides of other campsites . Our neighboring site had five tents up and two canopies over two picnic tables and a shower tent. This was all on a site for two tents. Also four adults and seven children and two dogs were all next door screaming and talking and blowing up mattresses until 12:30am. No one polices the situation that we were aware to make sure that campers follow campRegulations. Sadly , we cancelled our two other nights at Sunset and camped elsewhere. The noise and smoke from so many campfires was disturbing and hard to breathe. Having dogs tied up at night seems like bait waiting for a mountain lion. Your experience may be different than ours but this was ours for that one night. The park is gorgeous and the facilities at Grant Grove are excellent.

Was there for 4 nights at the end of July and I have no complaints and if there were, the trees would make up for everything!!!. The restroom was within view of our site which made it easy to watch the kids go wash hands. The bear box was plenty of room for our cooler, pans, and all things scented. Highly recommend having a good flashlight at night if going to restroom and glow sticks to be able to see the kiddos. Also a big water container and bin to make dish washing easier. Grant grove village where you can get all your essentials and souvenirs was within a short walking distance. There was limited wifi, you would have to stand either right next to post office or by visitor center.

We love this campground! Most of the sites are beautiful, there are huge boulders to climb on, amazing sunset views on the outer loops, deer that visit a creek in the middle. The bathrooms are clean and there is plenty of deadfall for firewood. It is also close to the general store and Grant Grove, and only an hour from either Zumwalt Meadow or the Giant Forest.
