This campground is very well run. All facilities are clean, the sites have amazing views and the camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Campers can be a bit loud on weekend evenings but things calm down before it gets too late.

By going in the middle of the week and choosing a campsite away from the lake, it was quiet and scenic -- just what I was looking for. The only glitch came at the check-in. I arrived about 4pm. I asked the attendant at the checkin booth if I could drive through, pick out a couple of potential campsites, & come back and pay. She agreed & even marked on a map the campsites that were still open and did not have reservations holding them. I came back in a few minutes with my choice. Unfortunately, the attendant's computer had lost its internet connection (which apparently also happened the day before), & therefore she could not check me in or assign me a campsite. She dialed the recreation.gov phone number using the phone in the checkin booth & handed it outside to me, in hopes of my being able to reserve the site that way. After being on hold for 15 minutes, a recreation.gov person came on the line. Just as we began to work through the process of making a reservation, she said, "I can't hear you very well," and our phone connection was broken! After handing the attendant back their phone, I went to my vehicle and tried using my cell phone to make the call; however, the signal was too weak to make a call or to connect to the recreation.gov website in order to make the reservation. The attendant suggested I "drive to the top of the hill" because that's where a lot of people had to go to get a cell phone signal. I did, & was finally able to set up a recreation.gov account & reserve the campsite of my choice. So, here are my lessons learned & recommendations: (1) Assume you won't have a cell signal in much of the recreation area, and don't count on the attendant's booth having any connection to the outside world either. (2) Set up a recreation.gov account ahead of time. (3) If you can't tell from the website which campsite you want, arrive ahead of time to scout them out. Then be prepared to leave Moutardier to make a cellular internet connection & make your reservation.
