This site was beautiful and private. What a great way to experience Joshua Tree National park. It was the perfect place to set up our tent and relax. We really enjoyed the astronomy talk at the amphitheatre in the evening. It was beautiful star gazing with minimal light pollution. The sunset and sunrise here was beautiful. We had easy access to skull rock nature trail which was really neat as well and then we followed the trail back from skull rock right to the campground.

This was my first time camping in Joshua Tree and it was a great experience. I stayed to view the meteor shower in December. It was easy to book and the campgrounds have all the basics, include a toilet nearby. I will definitely be back again.

Campsites are close to one another with little privacy. However, this campground is in the middle of Joshua Tree NP and connected to trails that allow you to explore the surrounding areas and to scramble nearby rock formations. The vault toilets are relatively clean and have low odor. You do not have to drive far from this campground to get to other trails, viewpoints, rock climbing areas, and exhibits along Park Blvd.

Great campground to stay. Great location with beautiful views. Very convenient for hiking trails. Definitely, I would stay there again. I wish there were a shower. Overall 5 stars.

This campground was simply stunning. Sites were nestled among the rock features that afforded a level of privacy that can be hard to find at a campground this large. Rock features were accessible to scramble on and get great views of the sunrises and sunsets.

Incredible site. Tons of space and privacy. Arguably the best site at Jumbo Rocks.

Nice Campground close to the North-east entrance in 29 palms. The sites are very different and some are really small, but most of them have nice boulders all around them which give a little privacy and shadow. Restrooms are full of bees and no running water, but what else can you expect in a desert. Nice hikes nearby, enjoyed our stay very much!

We loved this campground! The rocks were so much fun to play on after a day in the park. Beautiful sunsets right from the campground.

Beautiful campground. Site 120 was secluded and private and surrounded by rocks. Close to Skull Rock trail which was gorgeous at sunset. Terrible wind that blew all night long and made tent sleeping challenging - but that's JT for you.

One of our favorite campgrounds. Fantastic stargazing. Peaceful and quiet. Beautiful campsites.

Jumbo Rocks was great. Doing my initial research, it looked like there were only 2 toilets for the whole campground; in reality, there were many more and you're never more than a 1- or 2-minute walk away. The only negatives were some obnoxious girls whose voices carried over from at least 200 feet away; and my neighbors who had at least 6 people in one spot, talked until after 1 a.m. and had some kind of laser light show going on. I wish people would respect other campers who want to enjoy nature, watch the stars and listen to the crackling campfire without other voices or lights intruding.

Site 120 was absolutely stunning. Unobstructed view of the sky, plenty of rocks to climb, and bigger than some of the neighboring spots. Err, sorry. It was a HORRIBLE campsite. I would never, ever, em, considering camping at site 120 ever again.

Get site 120 if you can, but there are no bad views at this campground. Hike to Skull Rock from the campground.

Beautiful campground. Loved that there were plenty of bathrooms, trashcans near all campsites, and the grounds were clean. Close to great trails as well. Some sites are very close together and/or to the road, but we were at site 120 and felt very secluded.

This place was one of the coolest campgrounds I have stayed at. The rock formations are incredible. It was like camping on another planet! Also the campground gives you easy access to great hiking.

great place to hike and explore. Some camp sites are are the small size so be aware when you book

Campsite was great. We had good positioning for shade during the early morning (We went during the summer) and we had the privacy of not being close to any other campsites except the one beside is (which was reserved but unoccupied) and is separated by a large rock. Had a hard time locating it as we arrived in the darkness of the evening. The parking lot for this site is ideal for vans that open in the rear as you park rear first and not parallel. Toilets were nearby and were relatively clean.
@CalvinEC79C4E8 · Camped on May 20, 2022 at Campsite #120
The camp site is great. It's unfortunate that it is often booked out so far in advance and yet nearly 50% of the sites were unused during my most recent visit.
