We decided to come in the middle of June so it was a lot warmer than we anticipated. I definitely would recommend coming earlier in the summer or mid fall season. We stayed in spots 017 & 018 and liked that they were close to the restroom, but spots 018 & 019 are the ones closer together and will be better for a larger group. The sites were clean when we arrived but there was a no wood or charcoal fire ban due to poor air quality. The trails were fairly easy to access and climbing the rocks was also easy to climb up and down too. We would definitely recommend this campground and will be returning in the future!

Great campground. clean, parking for each site. Every spot is unique and really amazing. Cannot wait to return.

Beautiful campground. Be careful, this site is relatively small, so only one car fits. Good idea to combine with the adjacent site.

Desert hikers paradise. Removed from the crowds of Hidden Valley area and plenty of structured hiking trails or cross country options.

We came on a new moon night in September. We booked campsite #118 & #121 as soon as reservations opened on Recreation. The campsites are back to back, basically an island to ourselves, with large surrounding rocks for shade during the morning on campsite #121 and then in the evenings at #118. We had three cars and opted to park all three on the #121 side and used all the space in #118 to set up our tents (two 6P and a 4P tent). There's a secluded rock cove tucked away at the corner of the campsite where we put another 2P tent (absolutely loved it). We fit two canopies at site #121. Clear skies, 95 daytime, 65 at night. We did several hikes close by at sunrise and sunset, all walkable from the campsite or within a 10m drive. Many of the campsites didn't have any shade to speak of or were very small. There was a vault bathroom within close walking distance throughout the campgrounds. The rangers came by each morning. Highly recommend these two sites and the campground. Great location, zero reception, and the stores are 30m away if anything is needed. We saw so many shooting stars across the Milky Way. Very beautiful.Notes: The moth caterpillars liked climbing the tents and in between the tarps for warmth. So did the occasional furry spider, so be cautious when cleaning. The bathroom near by may smell for a few minutes during the day, but otherwise not at all noticeable and far enough not to notice the foot traffic. Skull Rock and Jumbo Rocks were easy to hike to and climb.

We stayed at campsite 118. It was very small, but it was prefect for a small group. We enjoyed our stay very much! Lots to see in the area.

This was my 2nd time staying at Jumbo Rocks. Loud music groups seem to be the norm at this location; this time there was a group that went late into the night like 11pm. But at least this time I was careful to pick a site that would be away from the RVs. I made a mental note to not stay at this campground next time. (last time I visited just before Xmas; this time just after the new year. Perhaps visits during non-holiday periods could be better)

I always love Jumbo Rocks! I booked a decent site, but the one across from me (the primo one I reeeally wanted) remained empty the whole time.
If the NPS is reading this, I have a suggestion: people must change/cancel their reservations or they receive a fine.
It’s hard booking a site at this campground, and there are tons of people who never show for their reservations. That is super unfair to the people who actually want to be here.
Another suggestion is to implement a policy of if you don’t show up within 24 hours of your first day, you forfeit the reservation entirely.
Free up space for the people who will honor their commitments.
Thank you for listening.

Is an amazing place. We stayed for 5 days and was really relaxed, quite and privacy. The area characteristics gives you the sense of privacy.
If you need buy something, is necessary drive for 30’ to town.
There is no water, there is just a toilette. But that wasn’t a problem for us.
