If you planning to camp here during winter, make sure youre well prepared with enough warm clothes and camping stuff.. Also, dont be scared if you hear the coyotes or hienas during the peaceful night:)

When other campers aren't being completely obnoxious (sorry, this trip was one of the rougher ones in the 22 years I've been visiting) this is the BEST campground and one of my favorite places in all of JTNP. And the stargazing is sooooo great here.

Always a pleasure to camp at Jumbo Rocks. Beautiful vistas, great trails nearby and every night a dazzling star show.

Really nice campground. Can go on lots of walks right from your site. Clean and pretty quiet for the most part. No running water or electricity that we saw. Pit toilets. Saw some Gamble's Quail cruising through the site as well as a coyote that wasn't too skiddish. Would definitely recommend for Joshua Tree camping--- check out the sites before you book to make sure you get one that will fit your stuff, there's quite a bit of difference between the different sites!

Jumbo Rocks is truly an amazing place on this Earth! I was blown away by this beautiful campground with the looming, granite boulders all around and the beautiful desert landscape. I will be coming back to this magical place as soon as I can! Thank you, Joshua Tree National Park! :)

The site was beautiful, as Joshua Tree always is, but there were very noisy neighbors, who got very drunk and yelled until about 11:30 on Saturday night. They were gone Sunday, which was just perfect. One plus I noticed was that the bathroom was kept really clean and stocked with plenty of toilet paper, so A+ on that.I love JT and will go again often, but I think I'll opt for the smaller campgrounds.

We had a great time! The hike to Skull Rock was lovely to be able to do directly from the campgrounds. We did part of the hike to Split Rock which was also very unique and I recommend.

The best campground in the park, so special to be tucked up against the rocks. Lots of places to wander and stargaze!

The Jumbo Rocks are gorgeous! Right outside your tent for sunrise and sunset scrambles.

Parking may be in group parking lot, however, and your neighbors might be toe to toe with you. The pit toilet situation is the pits! Way too few not very clean toilets, so we had to wait in line every. single. time.

Site 107 didn't have protection from wind, and we hit a cold snap, but the night skies were magnificent! Unfortunately didn't see camp host, so our neighbors played rap music with R-rated language which took away from the ambience of a Milky Way lit family evening around the campfire. We will definitely be back with fingers crossed for more considerate neighbors and a bit warmer temps.
