Awesome. Authentic. Amazing Ranger programs nightly in Jumbo Rock Campground. Highly recommend. Great hikes and bike rides and camping.

Jumbo Rocks is a popular campground for good reason. Its a nice facility and has a few nice trails accessible right from the campground. RV site 103 is sloped, but otherwise has a nice parking spot. Its a fairly private campsite with a nice fire ring and picnic table. Be sure to bring leveling blocks and youll enjoy this centrally located site.

Campsite 98 & 103 were clean and spacious. Restrooms were also clean. Skull rock trail was right next to our sites so it was easy to go explore. Would definitely return.

***This review is for my experience at Hidden Valley CG. I opted not to stay at Jumbo RocksFCFS campground. Rangers do their rounds between 8am-9am each morning to ensure nightly fees have been paid. Vault toilets. No cell service. No water. Quite possibly one of the best camping experiences Ive had. Stunning sunsets from any vantage point within the campground. Excellent place to stargaze and await the moonrise above as it fills the desert with its moonlight. There were some rude campers that stayed up last 2am talking and laughing. Noise carries very easy. Other than that, it was bliss.

We stayed in site 103. It had more room and privacy than most of the other sites in our area. We could walk into the rocks for exploration without getting in a car.

Site 103 is a big campsite with great views. Pit toilet was ok.

Beautiful campground, with camping spaces around the boulders. Camping spaces are well separated, relatively private. Excellent trails and endless desert and rocks to explore. No wifi, no cell service. Good location in the center of Joshua Tree. The main road into the park is not great for biking, due to little or no shoulder. Incredible rock formations all around.

I LOVE THIS CAMPGROUND! The rocks create wonderful nooks that give a feeling of privacy and space between campsites, and also (somewhat) mute the sounds from other campsites. It's a beautiful natural setting.

Campsite its self was nice. Fire ring was full to the top with ash though. Vault toilets only, and it seems some people dont know how to use them and this you need to stand on the seat and squat. Quite disgusting how someone could not only try and use a toilet in this way, but also leave it for the next person the way they did. I know this is not the parks fault. But was truly shocking. Parking at trails also ridiculously small. They have all this space and the smallest of Parking. Couldnt get parked at any of the main trails I wanted to hike and one I could not even turn around in due to it being so small and full.

We enjoyed two nights in site 103. This is a nice campground, earning its name by being very close to interesting rock formations with explorations you can do right from camp. The Skull Rock trail loop goes right through the campground. Some trees and lots of shrubbery provide visual separation between sites. A great horned owl roosted in a tree next to our site one night. Do note that you need to bring all your water and there is little or no cell service

Our camping site was beautiful, and rocks truly were jumbo. And they were jumbo fun, too! We also liked all the stars the rangers put out at night. Haven't seen the Milky Way in a long time (although I've certainly had my share of Snickers). We'll be coming back!

This was one of the coolest campgrounds we went during our roadtrip! We arrived late in the night and the surprise about our surroundings in the morning was huge. The views are just stunning! We had a table and place for making a fire, there were toilets. I dont think there are showers or hook-ups. However, the location was fantastic!

Looking into this campground I was already thinking this was a great campground due to all the positive reviews. Though I didn't understand why until I got there. Full of nature around each camp site with jumbo rocks just a few steps away. It was quiet and peaceful. The views got even better at night with all of the stars behind the rocks. This is a place well worth the visit.

Joshua Tree NP was outstanding. The features sites were excellent, with many informative signs. Hidden Valley Loop, Cholla Cactus Garden, Keys View, Ryan Mountain and Arch Rock Trail are must see. Cholla Cactus Garden with an early morning (30-60 minuets after sunrise) was probably my favorite.

We visited mid-week when the weather was a little dicey. The campground was at less than 50% capacity. Easily accessible, clean, well-marked. Vault toilets were maintained/ventilated. Lots of campsites surrounded by large boulders made for a more private/quiet experience, and they helped protect from the wild wind. As always, not all sites are the same, so choose accordingly. Easy trails are accessible directly from the campground, and the campground is plenty large enough to take dogs for walks. No reliable cellular reception.

Great location in the park with a nice selection of hikes close by. Campsites can be a bit cramped and without much privacy but there are some gems tucked away between the amazing boulders. It can feel quite busy during weekends. Facilities are clean and well looked after

Jumbo Rocks was a fantastic place to stay. There are many short hikes within a few miles of this location. Near the transition zone between the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. You get to see the differences in flora between the two deserts. The scenery is fantastic, and the night time sky is wonderful. Be aware that this camp is at elevation; the temperatures were colder and there was more wind here than at other areas of the part that are at a lower elevation. ATT had some cell coverage; Verizon had no service. We used a Garmin In-reach Mini satellite tracker / communicator to text and check the weather (and it was helpful for finding our location while hiking some of the trails).
