The temps in early February are perfect for hiking. It is cold at night so bring warm gear. Really enjoyed the Ryan Mountain Trail.

Wonderful hiking throughout the park. Recommend Ryan Mountain, Boyscout Trail and Arch Rock. The cholla cactus gardens at sunrise is spectacular. There is no water, fuel, wood or anything other then well maintained latrines so bring the supplies you need. There is also no cell service (so peaceful....)Kuddo's to the park officials and to all of the volunteers - thank you, thank you

We did not get to stay at Jumbo Rocks due to the shutdown...we ended up staying on some private property on the edge of Joshua Tree instead. Trying to get a refund was NOT easy...think we ended up with a partial refund for 1 stay. Ridiculous...just another indicator of how dysfunctional this nation is right now. So sad...

Wonderful campsite, a bit secluded and right in between the Jumbo Rocks

We stayed at campsite 97. It was very private with big and tall rock formations right behind us (had fun climbing and exploring our area). There was a picnic table, fire ring, and a grill. The only downside, although minor, was the slight incline. Nothing crazy for us, but others may not like. Very cold crisp air, beautiful star gazing, furry friends. It was perfect.

We reserved sites 97 and 99. Theyre next to each other but not right next to each other like some sites. Sites were clear and clean. Restrooms were clean. Good access to short hikes for kids.

We loved the campsite at Jumbo Rocks. There is so much space between spots so it is quiet and secluded. The campground is kept up very nicely.

Exceptional spot. My vacation really started after waking up the next morning in that astonishing surrounding.

Such a great campground and both nights were spot on! That said you wouldn’t go far wrong With any of the campgrounds in the park. All of these areas are in an amazing setting. Specifically Jumbo Rocks has some great pitches and not so great. There are also some which will fit a 21ft campervan into although the site says no. We played by the rules. Fantastic site to either sit outside and enjoy the sunrise either on your pitch or a short hike to the top of one of the jumbo rocks 🤩👌🏼 … then there’s the sunset. Crack open a tinny, sit back and enjoy the show. ❤️

Jumbo Rocks was one of our favorite campgrounds on our recent trip. The sites are large and private, and although there were not hook-ups, it was wonderful!! We’ll be back!!

Very windy but sunny so we enjoyed the drive and views. Marking sign for campsite road was not clear. Arrow pointed ahead thus we missed the turn. Able to find a spot to turn around and did find our spot.

It a wonderful campground! But! If you going to say overweight in a tent in December, remember - its very COLD and windy! Felt much colder then it was because of cold wind. But Sunset and Sunrise were worth it!!!

Absolutely beautiful campground. I loved our site 97. It was private and the kids can play on the rocks behind the site. Not a ton of room for tents, but we were in an RV. Don't forget to bring lots of water, because there is none at the campground. There is some good hiking right from the campground. We also loved the Ryan mountain, hidden valley, and Barker dam hikes, just a short drive away.

Pay attention to how far your picnic table is from where your RV will be parked. Some are farther away then others.

Awesome spot! It's close(ish) to the observatory, so you know it's good! I love it for night time star gazing, or if there is a full or special moon. The pitch black really helps with observing and it's beautiful at night. It's also easy to hike and there are a lot of insects and animals to see, if you're into that and/or have kids. I did hear coyotes at night and quite a few of them, so I would just say be careful where you step and be cognizant of the animals. The spot has a large picnic bench and a small fire pit. Perfect for sitting around the fire and chatting it up. We rented a small RV and it was perfect. I'll be looking up when there is a clear night and going back to see the milky way. It's incredible.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
