Great spot, campsite was isolated from other sites so we had lots of privacy, bathrooms were clean and not too stinky!

LOVED the campground and the park overall! Wonderful access to the trails and so fun to be nestled right in among the jumbo rocks :). We stayed in a Campervan in site 93 the first night and site 109 the second night. Site 93 was IDEAL!! Loved that we could park horizontally to the site and it was super private. This one was 5 stars. Site 109 is not really conducive for a Campervan because there are 4 parking spots that are lined up side by side for 3 sites that are fairly close together. The site was fine, but parking next to others was a little awkward. When looking at sites, if you are in a Campervan or a car that you need to access often, avoid any site with back in access as it will be with other vehicles. But sites were super cool with rocks and ample space over all. Note that in late February the sun sets early (around 5:35) and by 6:30 the stars are all out! Stargazing was INCREDIBLE anywhere in the campground. The vault toilets were super clean and easy to get to. No water so be prepared. We loved it and would absolutely go again.

Its a lovely campground, but without anyone there to enforce rules and supervise the mayhem (loud obnoxious drunks cussing and walking around the campground in the middle of the night, loud radio blasting, cars speeding thru the campground etc.. ) made for an unpleasant experience.

Beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, and plenty of hiking trails. Aside from the nearest bathroom which was a bit overrun by bees, the trip went great and we're looking forward to coming back again.

Site 93 was great for our 25 foot Camper Van (we have a Ram ProMaster). The driveway is not long enough to fit a 2nd car. Rocks and foliage hid our neighbors and we felt we had the place to ourselves. You can scramble up some rocks and watch the sunrise, it was peaceful and very pretty! The site is across from one of the hiking trails to Skull Rock. We did this 1.7 mile Skull Rock Trail hiking loop with our 11 and 8 year old kids (easy trail to do with young kids/family) and it led us back to our campsite. It's a nice trail with many things to see. If you start the trail from campsite 93, then about a few minutes into the Skull Rock Trail hiking loop you can climb up the rocks and get about 2 cellular bars on AT&T to check your texts, emails, and make a phone call. Generally in Jumbo Rocks you get 0 bars. The site is across from a pit toilet bathroom which is convenient. At the time, the toilet's lock was broken, so we had to put a sign on the door to ask people to knock so someone didn't just walk in while you were using it. Since the site is across from one of rat major points for Skull Rock Trail, we did have a lot of pedestrian traffic coming through. They won't let you hang lights on any of the bushes (preserving natural vegetation there is very important), but you're welcome to hang lights on rocks and such. Bring lots of water! For our Camper Van, we used the potable water at Black Rock Campground where anyone can drive in and use the potable water and gray water dump for $5. We did this during our 5 day stay at Joshua Tree. Easy to use and you just pay at the Black Rock Nature Center. There's also a box there that you can leave $5 if the Nature Center is closed. We stayed at both Black Rock Campground and Jumbo Rocks Campground and Jumbo Rocks was by far our favorite even with the pit toilets. Black Rock Campground has flush toilets but was not as interesting and fun for the kids and us as Jumbo Rocks Campground. The location of Jumbo can't be beat!

The park is wonderful but it was not possible to stay longer because there is no Internet connection to make a new reservation. So we had to leave , even when there was a lot of free places. On all places were a sign reserved .

Had a great visit to the Jumbo Rocks campground midweek. Our site 93 was close to the restrooms and had a nice flat spot for our tent. We only had neighbors on one side of us; on the other side of us was a walkway to the amphitheater but there were no events there. A trail to Skull Rock starts right across from our site. Loved the fire ring as it had a grate that could be flipped over the coals to place pans to cook. Also had a large cement picnic table and grill. Everyone was super chill and friendly. Lots of well behaved dogs on leashes. Mostly saw RV peeps here but there were a few other tent campers. We did experience a pretty impressive thunderstorm and rain, but our site didn't flood and our tent stayed dry due to extra covers we put on it to prep for the rain. Enjoyed some short hikes and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I can't wait to go back!

One of the best 24 hours we ever had!
We can highly recommend to book a campsite at Joshua Tree! Picknick table, BBQ grill and a fire pit - no light pollution, no electricity - only you, the stars and the sound of the animals. Amazing!
Drive to Keys View, walk the trails, rest in the rocks, try to count the trees and just enjoy the area!
Mind the weekends, go in between the weekdays. Book your side and pass upfront online. ...and don't forget the smores ;-)

Probably the most scenic campground in JT national park, Big sites, sturdy tables and some shade available.

Great location near scull rock, but campsites are small and not made to accommodate RVs. Near many of the main attractions

Great place to visit. Campsite 93 was right on the main road near both a washroom , the recycle area, garbage bin and main hiking path. To say there was a lot of walking traffic is an understatement. But th site was clean, the washrooms were ok, and the hiking was a blast. The night stars amazing.

So many trails to explore, magnificent sunsets, amazing stargazing at night.

Super beautiful campsite, very pictureque. Great location- you can do the Skull Rock Nature Trail from the campsite itself and many other trails/destinations (i.e. Hidden Valley, Ryan Mountain, etc) are less than a 20 min drive away. The bathrooms are not super lovely- but it's a pit toilet so that's to be expected.

This was an incredible place to visit! My family absolutely loved it. It was magical and our site was quiet, clean, and perfectly located.

We brought a 24ft rental RV into Jumbo Rocks and our experience couldn't have been better! The campground is clean and the rock scrambling was perfect right around our site . Our 12-year-olds had a blast!
