There's something magical about waking up in the midst of the Jumbo Rocks Campground. Spot #91 is especially quiet and secluded.

Campsite 91 at Jumbo Rocks was great. Flat ground for 2, maybe 3 small tent sites. Campfire ring, camp grill and picnic table provided. Parking for 2 vehicles along the campsite. The campsite is along the road so you can hear the cars drive by but it wasn't very bothersome at night. The rocks encircle the other 3 sides of the campsite so you are quite private from the other campsites. Near the ampitheater. Close but far enough away from the pit toilets that I didn't notice any smell. Trash cans at campgrounds. No water because it's the desert so pack water during your stay. Clean pit toilets that get checked on a busy weekend. Weirdly a fog settled in thickly right at the campground for a night that made everything damp but the next night we had clear skies and it was great for star watching. Scrambling on the jumbo rocks were awesome and there's some rock climbing routes right in the campground and a short walk away. Accessible campground with just a short drive to other great rock climbing. Would recommend this campsite. Note, that on holiday weekends, the campground may draw larger crowds and all the campsites were full. Some people were not respectful of quiet hours and there was no check in by camp hosts so bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to sound and coming on a weekend. Otherwise, most other campers were great.

My 19 ft trailer and SUV fit easily in this site. Clean, pretty view and enough privacy in this busy campground. The rocks and the set back made this a perfect place camp and hike around to see the sites. We ran into 29 Palms for quick shopping and tour the visitors center, too, while here. Camp hosts, rangers and staff kind, friendly and helpful!!

I recently camped at this site, and while the location had potential, there were a few aspects that affected our experience. First, the weather was very windy during our stay, which made the camping experience less enjoyable, especially in a tent. It was hard to get comfortable, and we spent a lot of time trying to keep our tent stable.Additionally, I found the lack of water on-site to be quite inconvenient. There is no running water at all, so if you're used to having easy access to water for drinking, cooking, or cleaning, this could be an issue. The only restroom available is a pit toilet, which I know some people are okay with, but if you're not comfortable with that, Id strongly recommend thinking twice before booking here. Theres no flush toilet, so be prepared for a more rustic experience.Overall, while the location may work for those who are prepared for these conditions, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who needs more basic amenities like running water or a more traditional restroom setup.

Not the first time to Joshua tree but it was first time camping here and we are so glad we did! The experience of being in there for sunset + star gazing + sunrise is totally different and much fuller and more beautiful without all the driving in and out of the park. What a special place!

Very nice campground. There are a fair amount of flies in the bathroom but other than that no issues at all

Very nice camping area with distinct rock formations and desert plants and some wildlife. Nearby trails to explore and learn about the origin of the landscape. Site #91 offered a lot of space for us. We just stayed for one night, but there are many more things to explore.

We had site 91 and it was amazing! We were concerned with our 28 trailer and 21 truck but we had probably an extra 10 to squeeze in. We didnt put our slide out but that didnt matter as we were outside all day. I absolutely love this campground and site

Campsite was great. Rangers at Vistor Centers were very informative. Only draw back was absolutely No Cell Service. Had to drive up to McDonalds in 29 Palms to check in with home.

Hot day, but overall the campground we had was great, good privacy when we had the truck parked up front and tons of space to fit our extra large tent and canopy.

We have been going to this campground for 33 years!
Jumbo Rocks is a sanctuary away from the city. The rocks give a sound barrier to your neighbors.
The restrooms were clean. Trash was emptied. We did miss having or seeing campground hosts this Spring 2023.
Heidi and Don were there in the Fall. If you have a long trailer....there are only a couple spots that will fit your rig.
Check the size of the camp space before you book it.

WE thought we would be able to talk to a Camp Host volunteer at Jumbo Rocks and was surprised to find out there was no one that was responsible for the safety or making sure things were going ok at the park no one ever checked us in or out. It was a little bit more crowded than it should have been by people not following the rules. Overall though it was never became a issue so I guess it was ok. It is a magical place and I hope it stays that way.

Jumbo Rocks CG is an experience. Very narrow parallel parking and no cell service. Sunset and sunrise on the rocks is spectacular.

This is a great campground! But... the road is tight and campsites are parallell to the road. If you have slide-outs on the driver side - you risk getting them hit by passing cars. We checked out the campground and our space the night before bringing our rig into the park. We are glad we did. We opted not to bring our 35' fifth wheel - with slides on both sides - into the campground. While the length of our space was adequate, the width was not. Reviews stated our site - #91 - would work for big rigs. We disagreed. But, it was a cool site! We ended up staying outside of the park and used our camping site for day-use. Be sure to bring water. There is none here.

#91 is the best campsite. You don't have neighbors really close - pretty much surrounded by rocks. Did have some kids and an adult climb through, but that was fine. Quiet, peaceful and frankly - going back soon!
