Very nice campground with vault toilets that were always clean. Camp hosts drove around often to check on things. Attended 2 ranger programs which were very informative.Great hiking trails well maintained.

We recently had the pleasure of dry camping at Jumbo Rocks Campground in Joshua Tree National Park, and our stay was absolutely awesome. The campground offers a truly unique and beautiful setting, surrounded by stunning rock formations and incredible desert scenery. It was the perfect place to unplug, relax, and fully enjoy the peaceful desert atmosphere. Even without hookups, the dry camping experience was comfortable and relaxing. One thing that truly stood out was the restrooms. The bathrooms were the cleanest vault bathrooms Ive ever seen and they didnt smell at all, which is saying a lot for vault facilities. It was clear they are very well maintained. The rangers were also very nice, welcoming, and helpful, which made the experience even better. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about the campground and its visitors. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Jumbo Rocks Campground to anyone looking for an unforgettable desert camping experience.

Clean campground, clean toilets, small sites. Nice hike from the campground to Skull Rock. When we pulled into our site there was a line of large RVs parked/camped on the other side of the street. They had their generators on even tho it was not during the approved generator time. We decided to move to a different campsite

Excellent paved campsites throughout the campground. No water available in the national park so you must remember to bring water with you. Don't underestimate your water usage especially with hot temperatures. Many sites are situated near the jumbo rocks but may run parallel to campground roadway. Pay attention to site restrictions regarding equipment size, etc. Campground is close to many popular hikes so strongly recommend staying here. Would love to come back and visit!

Jumbo Rocks is an amazing place. I wish I could have spent more than 3 nights there. The campground is well cared for and the vault toilets were clean and well maintained. The trails in and around the campground are world class. Cant wait to return.

Like any campground there is a wide variation in the different campsites. Without knowing which sites would be best for our needs were hesitant to book online. We took our chances and drove to the campground with no reservations. It was a little inconvenient to have to go to the campground, note acceptable sites, then drive back 10 miles toward the park entrance to get cell reception to make a reservation. The park itself was beautiful. (And campsite 90 had great level parking for a camper van!)

The campground itself is clean. The restrooms could be better. But that's more on campers and the public who use it and do not keep it acceptably decent.

This campsite is beautiful and isolated from the others around it. The parking pad is easy to pull up and pull through. Its very level. We had no trouble fitting both our truck and pop-up trailer (16ft box, 23ft completely open) and we even had a few feet to spare. Even though the campground was full it was still quiet. The pit toilets were well maintained. We filled our trailer water tank at the west park entrance via some portable water tanks and a funnel. You can hook up a hose if you have a long enough one (20-30ft).

What a gorgeous spot! We arrived on a windy day but had protection from the rocks on site 90. Would try to stay further back next time for more room and privacy, but with the wind, our site was just perfect.

Let me begin with the fact that Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places on earth and the Jumbo Rock campground is wonderful... EXCEPT. The overwhelming majority of "campers" these days are in MASSIVE RV's with very loud generators that are being run outside the allowed generator time period. Even if used during the allotted time, these contraptions are absurdly loud and destroy any hope for tranquility. Moreover, I could hear home-style heating units cycling on/off all night long. People also brought portable light pollution stations so they could illuminate their entire campground. We go to Joshua Tree to escape the noise of the city and experience natural beauty in peace and quiet. Every year Joshua Tree/Jumbo Rocks gets louder and louder and the RVs get bigger and bigger. I propose that Joshua Tree make Jumbo Rock (and most campsites) a TENT ONLY campground and ban anything louder than a propane oven. Joshua Tree should be about getting back to nature and embracing a simpler life, not about bringing your house into "the woods" complete with all of the electronic/gas-powered trappings that come along with it.

Unfortunately we only stayed one night here.

Our first visit. Came in the West entrance and was blown away by the drive thru such epic Joshua Tree and boulder scenery. Campsite was shaded breezy and filled with wildlife (if you sit still a few minutes). Hiked every day (each was unique and awesome) and enjoyed astrophotography at night. Will be back.

The weekend talks were excellent. The boulders were fun to climb for all ages. I wish this campground was here when I was a kid.

We had the best time! We stayed March 20-24th and the weather was perfect at site 90. Not too hot during the day and not too cold at night. The first day we arrived it was very windy, but the wind calmed down after that. My kids did the Junior Ranger booklet and it made us appreciate all the unique flora and fauna in the park all the more. They are excited to become Junior Rangers at all of the National Parks that we visit now. All of the park rangers that we met were so friendly and informative. We loved it. We went all over the park to hike and climb on rocks and we had so much fun. Well definitely be back again.

Well maintained campsite! Amazing views. Weather forecast at the visitor center said 48 was the lowest, but the water in our dog bowl froze overnight. Definitely dress and pack accordingly as it's pretty cold at night!

Joshua Tree was an inspiring, beautiful environment. I was disappointed that our camping spot was basically right on the road. It seeks to me that the camping sites were poorly planned. Nevertheless, it went smoothly and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to see Joshua Tree.
