Great areas to explore near the campground. Relatively quiet in February!

Beautiful campground, rocks all around the campsites. We had a large site and lots of room and possibilites to climb the rocks for sunset and sunrise.Vault toilets nearest to our site were closed during our stay and a strong odor as well as flies were coming from them.

It's a really nice site to camp. Loved it !

The site is great and protected. Be aware the site is one part of a three part camping area so when you see the pic with multiple vehicles on the website and think it is all yours, it isnt. Sites 85, 86 and 87 all share the same pullout. We fit our 33 Class A and a jeep - barely, so when they say it is 42 long believe it. Really a great site - would stay there again.

We had a fantastic time at Jumbo Rocks! The hiking was wonderful, and many trails are close by. The rangers were kind and very helpful.

my experience at jumbo was very good, although I received a strange phone call from a 'ranger' in the middle of the trip about my campsite allegedly being abandoned (087) since no-one had been seen there all day. I explained that I rose early to drive back to the city in order to administer a final exam (I am a Professor). The campsite was not abandoned. I actually left a tent set up and a stove and other things on the picnic table. I was asked, "Do you plan on returning to enjoy your last night there"? To which I responded, "Of course." Since when do you have to be present all day long at your campsite? I could have been hiking, climbing, or a whole host of things. This is the first time I've been in JT that this has happened (I've been going here for over 50 years).

Site number 87 was very spacious and private surrounded Jumbo rocks. We really liked it and want to go back again.

This campsite was so perfect for our Joshua Tree overnight. It was very secluded and private. It had a little pathway that led up to the rocks and we climbed up on top of the huge rock formations all around to watch the sunset. We could hear the coyotes howl and saw amazing shooting stars and the Milky Way once the sun went down.

Loved this campground! Every campsite has their own little space behind in which you can go exploring for hours, no need to go far from the site to enjoy, explore the rocks, or have great views! If you did want to hike or go to nearby points of interest, the campground is well-centered. Just a few minutes from Ryan Mountain, Keys View, etc. Make sure to have enough water, food, firewood, and layers!

This campground is very busy in the fall. Considering the fact that every site is booked every day, it was tidy. Garbage day is Wednesday (loud trucks picking up dumpsters!) Pit toilets routinely cleaned. Some trash in site, but just due to build up from so much use. Worst problem is the usual--inconsiderate, loud weirdos pulling in at all hours of the night,or fighting. Some campsites are buffered better than others. Fair amount of greenery between sites. See Lost Palm Oasis trail at Cottonwood entrance, or Willow Hole off the Boy Scout trailhead. White Tank is a cool short walk.

I love Jumbo Rocks! Nice campground nestled in boulders. The bees did not see as bad this year, though one of the toilets could use a clean up. Overall great place to stay!

Fantastic location, rocks in your backyard to explore, right by the trail to skull rock. Clean campsite, a bit noisy but makes sense with the number of families there.

Reserved site, then got winter conditions warning email but I was unable to find the right place to cancel the reservation
@PamelaS335 · Camped on Mar 1, 2021 at Campsite #87
Get your reservations early!! You might get lucky and get in on a cancellation but likely it will not be for an extended time. Loved visiting and hiking the trails! Campground was clean. Sites are easy to navigate.

Jumbo rocks campground was incredible! What a perfect spot to explore the park. Sites were big and really well placed around the rock formations. Looking forward to our next visit.
