Make sure you bring plenty of water

The campground itself is excellent and highly recommended. However there is no host present on site, RVs were putting generators and playing loud music until 12am, and people in tents were playing loud music from 6am.

Site 080 was perfect for me and my friends. Plenty of room for multiple tents, can park right in front of the site and is in between 2 bathrooms. It is also close to the skull rock trail. Definitely dont recommend going during the summer since it gets really hot and warms up the tents in the morning. Also did wake up to some coyote tracks around the tent and heard them late in the night but nothing to worry about.

Campsite had plenty of room to spread out. Bathrooms and other facilities were immaculate. Perfect spot.

Love Jumbo Rocks campground, such a beautiful place. Lots of hiking in the area and the campground is well looked after by the campground hosts. Bathrooms were nice and clean and no garbage to be found. Jumbo Rocks will always be a favorite place to camp. Also relatively close to TwentyNine Palms, disappointed the Campbell Hill bakery was closed during the week we were there.

A great campsite and love the park. The only reason I gave it a 4 and bit a 5 is that there are no bike lanes within the park. I wasnt able to enjoy the trails as they were too far to walk and I almost got run off the road on my bike so I wasnt able to go to places I would have gone. Shame on this park for not being bicycle friendly also, many other parks run shuttles to places of interest. Its disappointing that Joshua Tree NP doesnt have shuttles or bike lanes.

The best campsites are 80,81, 87 and 90. I picked these sites for size and privacy. Most of the campsites are small and close together. This campground is very hilly, which makes it real hard to level an RV or ride bikes and walk. The closest market is about 30 miles round trip. So, plan ahead. Bring firewood, water, ice (block ice last longer or electric ice chest), a 'Jackery' for electrical emergencies and some canopies (there's no shade from the heat). There is no phone service or camp host to call out for problems. This campground is for young and athletic. If you're older or have a dog there is little to do other than look at the rocks, which grows old, fast. After camping here, I'd much rather camp at Doheny, San Elijo, Leo Carrillo, Refugio, Big Sur or Yosemite. The check-in was a joke. There's no one to check you in. So there's no way to verify the reservations. I was never asked to prove if I had a valid reservation. This is also the first time I didn't get a window sticker. There was no campground host when I was there in mid-October (high season). There is nothing to stop someone from camping in your site! I see these issues to be a huge problem. I should have added, this campground is not handicap friendly at all. No level access to the campsites or pit toilets that I saw. No phone service or camp host for emergencies. This campground has so many problems, if it wasn't for the boulders, there would be no reason to camp here. As a note: If you're thinking of being a Camp Host, the site is a terrible site and is not level and also there is no water, electricity, sewer or phone service. Maybe that's why there was no Host in Mid-October? I camped for 2 nights (I had 4 nights and I left early). I camp over 20 times a year. These are my opinions and observations. After reading the comments about someone in their site or dealing with loud and rowdy neighbors, I'm not surprise because there's no one to stop them. So, be warned!

Great location! Can't miss out sleeping among the Joshua Trees and stars. Pit toilets are not bad. Campsites are small in general and this one was a little larger and up against the rocks.

Site 80 was wonderful very private site. You parallel park next to the site, but there is room for the vehicle off the main road. Can park 2-3 vehicles (3 if cars are mid size or smaller). Backs to a wall of boulders and surrounded by bushes and small trees. Would reserve again in a heartbeat.

Great campsite, with many opportunities for adventure for my three boys. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Campground was clean and well maintained. Definitely got cold and windy so check the weather reports.

We loved our trip to Joshua Tree and camping at Jumbo Rocks. We will definitely plan a few more days next time. As theres so much to do in the park and we didnt get to all of it. I would love to come back in the spring and see the wildflowers after a good winter rain season.

Endless, mindless cruising for open campsites. Its not pleasant trying to enjoy nature next to a busy road.
@JanetR6F01FCCB · Camped on Oct 10, 2022 at Campsite #80
The campground is well maintained and the campsites are designed for as much privacy as possible. The more popular trails are difficult to follow because people walk all over the place. I preferred less used, longer trails. I would definitely visit again.

Great way to stay in Joshua Tree! Make sure you bring a comfortable pair of shoes that wont let sand and rocks in when you come back to the camp to relax! Sandals are a no go (although I tried).

Great location to be central in the park. First night neighbors shared their music with the entire campground but turned it off at 10. Next night was peaceful with a new neighbor. Restrooms were clean and trailheads had ample parking.

We had the greatest time. Its overwhelming beautiful; calm and quiet at night. We visited the site in May so the temperature was comfortable (60s) at night but woke up to a blazing sun by 6 am so be prepared! Also we were unaware of the rats so that was a fun surprise. All memorable; no regrets.
