Jumbo Rocks is a great place to stay if you want to do some light hiking from the campsite. The starry night are incredible, specially in the Summer. Unfortunately, there was some pretty obscene graphite that was sprayed very recently, right on the boulders. It's crazy to think how people can be so disrespectful of nature and others peace of mind. I hope it gets cleared out soon #79.

Stayed at site 79 and it is a magical space. With a small portal into a campsite behind rocks and access to amazing bouldering right behind the site, you don't need to go far to explore. If you were coming as a group, booking sites 79-77 would be perfect. Unfortunately, a group moved into site 78 on our last night and partied until 3am, which reminded me why I hate this kind of camping so much and looking forward to my son being old enough to pack into the back county. Wish there was some form of monitoring to ensure basic respect for others' space without having to pick a fight.

This is my 3rd year camping at Jumbo Rocks/Joshua Tree. Ive camped in August & in March and March was perfect! August a little hot for tent camping, March a little cold at night but beautiful during day. I always enter in the 29 Palm entrance which is much less crowded. Also Jumbo Rocks is only a 30 min drive to 29 palms to get supplies like firewood or ice. Great hiking trails around Jumbo Rocks so no need to drive, but if you do reserve tour at Keys Ranch well worth it.

Incredible place to camp. This may be the best site in the whole campground. We were able to place our tent back off the road and have privacy- almost felt like a bit of Joshua Tree to ourselves.

Great location and nice campsites w/ fire pits and grills, surrounded by massive rocks. If bouldering is your thing, you don't need to venture far from the campground. The whole area between the campground and "Skull Rock" is full of impressive boulders. A bunch of coyotes delivered a howling concert next to our tent at night, and I spotted a tarantula 300 ft / 100 m from the campground. On the downside, we had noisy neighbors that were talking and laughing till 3am, but I'm assuming that was just bad luck.

I had a good first time in Joshua Tree NP at Jumbo Rocks Campground (January 2023). It was shortened by a day due to high winds, and a broken tent pole, but that is not the fault of the park or the campground. I camped there at that time of year because later in the Spring it is very difficult to score a campsite for three consecutive days on short notice. It is a very, very popular park in Spring and Fall. In Summer it is too hot. The Rocks are fun to climb around on. The trails are also fun. I did the Skull Rock/Split Rock/Discovery trails combo. An easy to moderate trail (depending on your fitness). Will return to see more.

Beautiful campground setting in a great location! There are plenty of clean restrooms throughout the campground as well.

We stayed in sites 78-79, they were the absolute best! Beautiful grounds, secluded location in the larger Jumbo Rocks site, and truly was an amazing stay in Joshua Tree. Would highly recommend these two sites for anyone trying to get as close to off the grid as possible. Excellent trails right out back of the site and no campsite neighbors. Cant wait to return!!!!

Amazing experience. This was by far the best camp site I have ever had. You are right in the thick of the jumbo rocks of Joshua tree! Morning sunrises were so beautiful, topped only by the endless amount of stars. Bring lots of water as the campground doesnt have any.

Had a great time camping here. Plenty of areas to explore as well. My camp site was nice and secluded so nobody could bother me nor I bother anyone with my music. This site and Ryan campground are great.

The weekend was busy but the weekdays (most of our stay) was a bit slower. Very nice campground but beware of the pocket mice and dont leave any good out! The camp hosts were very kind and helped us find a spot for an extra night.

Great campsite! Close to many park attractions, and the rock formations provided much needed shade from the afternoon heat. No water available at the campsite, though, so we had to stock up in Twentynine Palms.
