Hiking, walking, enjoying nature, campfires. The slot canyons at Hall of Horrors are easy to access and hike.

We stayed at Jumbo Rock campground and had a great experience spending time with family. We had some of the most amazing hikes just from our campsite. It was the beginning of May, so the temperatures were still pretty mild.

The camp ground was ok. Some sights have flat areas for the tent, others dont. The rangers seemed to feel the need to say something every time they came by, but were not helpful in any way. The cherry on top was while we were packing up with our young children running around the volunteer rangers stopped by and pointed out the trash bag that was sitting next to our table and camping gear that needed to be brought to the dumpster. The evening before at the amphitheater, there was a lecture. The ranger spoke to global warming and greenhouse gasses, and how the Joshua trees would be affected within Joshua Tree National Park. He was intent on sighting lots of statistics which turned out to be wildly inaccurate. Our group included 12 kindergarteners who were board out of their minds. Finally we took a hike over to Skull rock where the rangers/volunteers could have been very helpful with the 30+ foreign tourists who all piled out of a bus and each had to have the same individual photo taken ushering our children out of the way. There is no water at the camp site and fire wood is about 30 min away. Its cold when the sun is behind the clouds and blistering hot when it is not. There is not much shelter, and the rangers dont let you tie anything to the vegetation. The wind picked up several tents and the campers retreated to their cars in the middle of the night. Others packed up and left at 2am.

Awesome campsite. Clean restrooms, quiet, hiking nearby. Beautiful views.

Campsites are fairly close together, even with the variety of Jumbo Boulders blocking segmenting things a bit. Great area of the park, People were respectful of the quite hours. My site was far enough away from primary road to minimize noise, dust and flow of traffic.Vault toilet was as clean as can be expected and right near other campsites. No solar light in the toilet, so you need a headlamp/flashlight at night.

first time staying here and can't wait to come back. the campground had so much to explore we didn't even venture outside of it for the 2 nights we were there.

This is one of the most secluded sites in the campground. Cool backdrop right against the rocks and amazing view with a short climb.

Sunrise is astonishing......

We spent two nights at campsite 48 in early Oct. The picnic table is nicely isolated with brush and rocks. Large rocks surrounding the area with a great flat area to star gaze. Reminder- no running water and only pit toilets. The arch trail was a favorite.

The campground itself is beautiful! However the sites are very close to each other so there is minimal privacy between your neighbors. This is a very popular campground so lots of crowds and noise.

Great location. If you're coming in from the west entrance, you'll need to travel down the road some to get to this campsite, but it puts you at a great location to see some stars away from the lights. I recommend seeing the Cholla Cactus Garden at sunset.

good central location for hiking and any other J tree adventures. No cell signal, showers, or water so be prepared.

Beautiful campground. We got lucky with being shielded from the cold winter wind by a rock formation. We were up against the wilderness and were lucky with spotting some rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels and various birds. We even spotted a coyote trotting through the night and heard an owl hooting. Clean bathrooms, lots of recycling, propane disposal and garbage collection. Parking is limited so keep that in mind. Thank you for a great stay!

This is such a great campsite and I think the best in the park (unless you go in the back country). Beautiful big rocks to explore. Nice to walk around the camp ground and see all the different sites and how their set up. Prefect choice!
