Autumn is by far the best time to go. Park employees did an exceptional job despite the Govnmnt Shut Down.

We arrived around 11pm to enjoy the stars in our hammock while our friends camped in their car. The neighboring campers arrived shortly after and had a very large group(at least 8 people with 4 cars) with multiple flood lights placed around to light the area while they cooked and ate. They had no respect for minding their light usage or noise levels. We found a path to take to get away for awhile to somewhere darker and quieter, we got a little lost, but ended up finding our way back following their noise. They didn't quiet down and turn off the lights until after 2am. We slept horribly. While walking to the restroom at night, we realized one of them actually slept in their car while it was still running. When they finally left in the morning they left a cup on the grill that had attracted a swarm of bees. This was by far the worst camping experience all 4 of us in my party have ever had!

The sites are close together but 56 was tucked back just a little bit and opened to the space beyond. There were huge rocks to explore and a really cool chasm to walk through. We had a great time.

I liked it because the bathroom was clean and the space was unique. I recommend you to see the sunset from Kiss View!

Beautiful campground and park. The site we stayed in was great for tent only camping. The rock outcrop provided a bit of shelter from the wind. The campground itself is nice to explore from and Skull Rock is not far along a trail that intersects with the campground. The sites in the section I was in only allow for car parking -not RVs -although RVs fit in other sites on that loop. Like all NPs, Joshua Tree could do with a few more rangers and other staff (not fewer) for additional programming. More presentations in the campground amphitheater and interpretive walks on weekdays would be a great addition.

just got scared of coyotes! They go closer to the tent. But it was an amazing experience!

Campsite 56 was amazing! Small little trail behind it that leads out to more rocks and open desert. Campgrounds is close to Skull Rock with a loop that will lead you there. Cholla cactus gardens is about a 25 minute drive from here.

The campground seemed very safe. The sites were spaced apart and being nestled between the rocks made the experience extra special. There were only vault toilets, but they were fairly clean, didnt really smell too bad, and there were quite a few.

We loved the campground, and the scrambling we could do right behind our site. We had to walk through/close to the neighbors site to reach ours and they didn't seem thrilled it.

The camping sites could be a bit farther apart, as we felt pretty close to other tenters. However the campground location is fantastic. I was worried about dust, but the rocks that make up the dirt here are too big and the dirt and dust was minimal.

Standard NPS campsite with fire ring, grill, and picnic table. Got a little windy while I was there, so you need to be mindful of the wind's direction when setting up your tent. Ground is soft, plenty of rocks available for hammering tent stakes if needed. Actual campsite is about 15-20 ft walk from reserved parking space. Directly against very large boulder - but not on the correct side to block the predominant wind. Good ambiance. Noise level completely depends on your neighbors. Other campsites are close, but there is some vegetation to provide a little more privacy.

One of the best campgrounds that can get really crowded when it's full. The hosts do a great job of keeping an eye on everything.
