Really unique campground but not a ton of privacy. Great place to meet people and bop around some rocks

Space was pretty clean and great views. Spot was very close to Skull Rock Trail. The only thing that people should know is that you might hear coyotes at night. I would recommend this spot again!

short walk from the car, felt very private, lots of choices for where to set up camp. Absolutely incredible

Jumbo rocks was a GREAT place to stay. Nearby trails were interesting with a lot of appropriate signage discussing the local flora and fauna. They were not challenging, but not everyone looks for a desert challenge. No water at the campsite, but we knew this well in advance and it was not a problem as we just brought our own water with us. The stars at night were totally WOW!!!

Fantastic large site set back from road. Very private if no neighbor in space 38. No shade in the afternoon.

Beautiful campsites, but no rangers or hosts the entire 4 days we were there. As a result, someone was occupying one of our campsites when we showed up because we arrived late and they thought no one was going to show up. I just wish they were able to have a presence to keep order, resolve disputes, and make sure the occupants who pay for the sites can use them.

We stayed at campsite #39 and #38. The sites were big. We enjoyed walking along the rocks for sunrise and sunset. This location was also very central to hikes in the area.

Wonderful campground and definitely one of the best in Joshua Tree! We stayed in site 39 and loved it. It's right next to a big rock, a little way from the road and car (but that was good because some of the sites are right on the road), and very private. We were lucky no one was in site 38 though, as that shares a path and is very close. Would be worth checking to see if anyone is in that site before booking, or booking both if with a group. Toilets were clean and didn't smell. Good location within the park for access to trailheads. We had noisy fellow campers in other parts of the campground both nights and the sound really travelled, which was super frustrating but seems to be a common occurrence. Would be nice to have a ranger come around to quieten them down as there's no camp host. Stars, sunsets and sunrises were beautiful, and we climbed up on the rock in our site to watch them. Would definitely stay in that site again!

This was my first time every camping and honestly it was great! The spot was big and roomy. Flat and not slanted at all, close enough to the restroom and away from the road. The Jumbo rock gave us shade in the morning which was great! Parking spot was only a few yards away. I would recommend this spot to anyone. There is a lot of wild life which can be fun but be aware of snakes. Also there was no cell service which was a great escape.

The campsite was good;however, the fire pit was extremely full of ashes. It had not been cleaned out for a long time. The pit toilets were filthy. They used to be cleaned out weekly but it was obvious this was not happening. The floors and toilets were dirty and unswept. Trash containers in toilets were close to overflowing. I have camped in Jumbo Rocks for 10 tears and this was the poorest condition I have witnessed. in

We had such a great time camping here over MLK weekend. The park is so beautiful, it felt surreal at times. It's a bit cold for tent camping in January but if you come prepared, you'll be just fine. Bathrooms were clean. And there were great ranger presentations at the amphitheater, veery interesting and informative! We will definitely be back!

Absolutely love it here! It is so quiet and peaceful. Mornings and evenings are my favorite. It’s as if the world stands still. So much wildlife to see in the early morning hours and sitting on the rocks watching the sunrise or sunset is idyllic. The starts here are unreal as well. Liked that they have recycling too, even the propane tanks. Have to go to visitor center everyday to fill up on water but we had a 5 gallon jug so it was fine. Vault toilets were clean and stunk free.
