This is a good spot to view the stars. Unfortunately the site was downwind from the bathroom and the smell was a little strong. I used this exact site the previous year, but didn't have any problem.

Really wonderful how most sites are somewhat separated by the landscape. Very easy foot access to many trails, scrambling, hiking, climbing options.

Too busy. And a whole campground being on a reservation system makes it very difficult to get a spot.

Great spot love the experience. Wish the park could do something about the bookings that do not get used and just stay vacant.

Two must see destinations are the Arch Rock trail and Hidden Valley trail. Campgrounds: Lovely view, clean campground with a picnic table and fire pit. Our neighbors were quite close and we could hear their conversation while sitting out by the fire but otherwise a great experience.

campsite was great, lots of boulders and rock piles to climb. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting!!! It’s a vault toilet and it was the worst. A water spigot would be nice somewhere but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Other than that, the skies were gorgeous for sunset and overnight.

I loved that there are large rocks to climb on right in the campground

You are down wind from the toilets so it can it get a little smelly. This site does not have does not have many flat areas so it can be challenging to setup a tent.

My group and I had a great time. Our campsite however was a bit close to our neighbors and so we were able to hear their chattering at night. Other than that, we had a great time. Checkin in was super easy and the bathroom was really closeby to our site.

The campsite was great and the restrooms were pretty clean. There was one downside that made our stay uncomfortable on the first night. The campground is reservation only and when we arrived on our first night, around 10:00 pm, there was a car parked in our site and they had their stuff all over the campsite. This group even left alcohol and food out on the table over night. We knocked on their window as we assumed they were sleeping in their car since there was no tent set up. We asked them to please leave as the campsite was reserved. They didn’t. We knocked again and asked to at least put their food and beverages away as animals could get to them, they didn’t do that either. They stayed there until the next morning and did not even offer to pay for staying the night. I was there two nights and not a single host or ranger checked that it was in fact me the one who reserved the campsite. This is not the first time this happens to me at Joshua Tree unfortunately. If I can suggest a host checking in daily to make sure groups actually have a reservation maybe these incidents would not happen. Overall the campsite is beautiful and well maintained.
