Great location. The campsite of #32 is excellent spot to watch the sunrise and close to the bathroom. This was my 2nd time staying at Jumbo rocks campground and it has great hikes close by such as Skull rock and Split rock.

Nice setting for camping and each spot has its own table, barbecue and fire pit. A few hikes on walking distance including the Skull Rock Trail. Other hikes are a short drive.

Nice spot with sufficient space for two large (4-6 people) tents and one small tent (2 people). The restroom is just across the street.

It sure would have been nice if there were hand sanitizer in the bathrooms and maybe a solar powered light so that you didn't need a flashlight to use the thing at night! Also, come to think of it, I don't remember seeing any trash cans (maybe they were there, but I can't remember seeing them).

Site is next to a pile of rocks that creates shade in morning, nice flat spot by bushes to set up. We were unlucky with neighbors that were loud until 3 am and walking back and forth cutting through our site to use the bathroom. Site 31 may be better to avoid this.

It was a beautiful place, I wish the tents were a bit more spread apart but in general was an amazing place

Great time! Campgrounds are generally close together, but you can find some hidden gems in here! Late February during the week was nice & quiet. Will be back here again!

I loved it here. I am from ohio so this type of terrain was all new to me. I will say that if you are in a trailer or rv that the road is narrow and it would be best to try and book a spot that is not a back in spot. Someone with a small travel rv was supposed to be two spots over from me but was unable to back in.

Overall a great campsite! People who came before us left some batteries there which was unfortunate.

Good signage, dumpster and bathroom were all a plus. Campground and park are very well maintained. Campground itself was very dog friendly. Did not give 5 stars only because of other campers being very loud late into the night. This is not the fault of the park.

Great campground! We went during President's Day weekend so there were definitely a lot of families walking the roads, but other than that, it's a gorgeous set of campsites with easy access to Skull Rock. Sleeping nestled between the large rock formations was a wonderful experience. Definitely planning to revisit soon!

Fun campsite with lots of rocks to climb around on and explore. Sort of a group site with others nearby

Our first time camping here with our trailer. Very nice and clean. It is very quiet with great view. No internet though so download your favorite movie and music. We will be back again.

Great camping spot. However, it was upsetting to see how many reserved spots were left open. I wasnt able to spend both days in the camp due to everything being booked, however upon arrival, it was clear many people hadnt made it to their reservation. This is frustrating because I would have really enjoyed to use one of those reserved spots.

Really enjoyed the park. Camp ground is very cool with climbing rocks all over, our only complaint was our camping neighbors didnt have great etiquette (walking through our site, talking at full blast 5am) but the grounds itself are awesome!

Having a reserved campsite at Jumbo Rocks made our trip to Joshua Tree NP enjoyable during the Christmas break. Our spot had a good place for two small tents, and with cold winter weather, we needed the firepit--best foil dinner ever. Seeing the sunrise after arriving in the dark rewarded for a rough, windy night--especially to see the Joshua trees on the site and the jumbo rocks. Great access to the Skull Rock nature trail which made for another marvelous sunrise and comfortable stroll before the crowds descended on that very popular feature. Hiking was a great way to experience solitude in the park.
Prepare for the possible long lines leaving at dark at the Twentynine Palms gate because everyone has to show a park pass or pay before leaving. Check out the Visitor's Center in town; the exhibits are fun and informative.
