Beautiful campground, I booked site 28, unfortunately didnt read anywhere that the actual site is down a trail past other sites past the lot, so be aware. I also got there after dark and it was impossible to tell where it was. I just slept in my car but still enjoyed the campground in the morning. Dont think Id book that or any of the sites along that trail again but will try this campground again. It was great to hike and climb around on rocks and is just beautiful ! This site is close to a vault toilet, which was convenient. And a close drive to skull rock and the 29 Palms entrance to the park.

It was overall good but the site was small. We brought Costco 12 people tent barely fitted. Please be careful of wind. The vault toilet was cleaner than I expected.Site 28~32 are so close each other.

I really like this campground, it has always been very clean with restrooms nearby and well maintained. A nice trail that you can take right from the campground to Skull Rock. I recommend Ryan Mountain nearby or Hall of Horrors for some hiking and nice views.

The campground itself is very well maintained. This site is awkwardly placed past another site and small.

Flush toilets were a little gnarly as the weekend went on and the campsites were not as clearly marked as hoped. But the scenary was beautiful and our experience with the park rangers was very good.

Amazong clear December skies. A few planes flew close the second night in the early morning. The owls were calling to each other during the quiet hours.

My first visit to Joshua Tree, and I am so thankful that I got to spend 3 nights at Jumbo Rocks. It was nature immersion of the highest order. Intense heat of 95 degrees by 11 am every day during the third week of May, so I took seriously all the warnings to bring adequate water supplies whenever you walk or hike. You do your active exercise before 11 and after 6. So I got up to watch the sunrise each morning, a precious gift from anywhere at Jumbo Rocks and at Split Rock up the road. Watched the sunset with the same awe and appreciation, then gazed at the gazillion stars until falling into my tent. I felt a bit sorry for all the campers sleeping inside their metal boxes. I was happy and comfortable in my tent with a screen ceiling that allowed me to continue to stargaze as I fell asleep. I was lucky to be there during the week when it wasnt overrun by people everywhere- in fact it was surprisingly quiet except at Skull Rock, always popular. I recommend a visit to the visitors center up the road in 29 Palms- very helpful and informative. All in all an awe inspiring experience.

Ranger programs each night were fun and informative with different subjects. The campsites were clean. Some crowding but thats to be expected during the busy season. Great volunteer staff who went above their duty to help us with our site. The park is beautiful and the park service is doing great

What a unique and beautiful experience. Tucked in between all of those jumbo rocks was unlike anything we have experienced before. When we woke up I lost my " kids " 26,26,20 for a while as they were climbing and exploring like when they were little. A 10/10 experience.

We had both a good and bad time at Jumbo Rocks. Firstly, the site is in a great location in the Park. It is central to many Park attractions. The site itself was good, but extremely difficult to find in the dark. Make sure you take a screen shot of your site before your arrival in the area because internet was non-existent for us. We did not know there was no check-in, so that was very confusing on campground entry. The signage on the road guiding us to our site was very confusing. And then we found our designated parking, but our campsite was a bit away from our space and beyond some rocks. My apology to the gent with site #27, who we had to bother to confirm #28 wasn't really next to his. We did find #28 after a search in the dark. The site was nice, but it was difficult to find level ground to set up tents. Being on top of the hill, the site was very windy that night - so make sure everything is staked down. The site provisions (table, fire pit, grill) were excellent. Our night was spent getting battered by the wind. With rain in the forecast and still plenty of wind, we decided we did not feel like getting cold and wet and left our site one night early. In all, it's a beautiful site and I would pick it again - just make sure to arrive with enough light to find our way around better.

#28-31 not the best sites. clustered together closely. Still nice though overall and close to a lot of the main POI in the park.

The campground is gorgeous and location next to Skull Rock is fantastic. The sites are really crammed in in places, so while some are more private other are not at all. I had #28, which has minimal privacy. The site is also a ways away from the assigned parking spot, which led me to set up camp in a spot closer to the parking spot that actually wasn't mine. Be aware and look for the site number on the picnic table (which isn't always there).

Jumbo Rocks campground was awesome! Takes about 45 min once you’re officially heading onto quail road to get there. Campground was clean and ready when the girlfriend and I showed up. Weather was great during the day but very cold / windy / rainy first night! That’s what made it super fun! You never know what to expect in the desert so be ready for all elements. The only bone I have to pick was the signage used for Skull Rock. It took us about an hour to finally find the entrance to skull rock trail. I think proper signage showing us campers where to go would help. (The signs posted are the most confusing signs I’ve ever seen). Other than that, awesome trip! Come extra prepared for those who are first timers.

Had an amazing time. Only downside is there were a lot of bees at the restrooms, other than that the site was great!

The wind and windchill made our trip a bit of a struggle. I love the part but my site had no level spot for my tent so between the slant and the wind we left after one night of a two night stay.

Without having visited this site before, it is hard to find which tables and fire pits are for which reservation. Note, #s are labeled on the side of picnic tables! I recommend taking a look around and scoping stuff out before you unload anything.Good: It was beautiful, and the park took covid and checking people into the campsites very seriously.

It was a really nice place to stay for 2 days between rocks and joshuatrees. Nice to meet other campers at fireplace in the evening or look for the sunrise standing on one of the rocks. The only you should consider: for me the more interesting locations to visit where more in the west part of the park (more joshuatrees, walk to Ryan Mountain), so I needed to drive a little bit.Holger, Germany
