Very good experience only because our area was mostly empty. Other parts of the campground looked rather full. Strange reservation system.

I booked the first day reservations opened for the dates I wanted, so I could have booked something better, but I couldnt tell from, the photos, so I ended up with a campsite that was squished in between two others. Luckily no one showed up for those campsites, but I had no idea they wouldnt because both sites had a reserved sign on them. When I say squished, I mean my picnic table was less than 20 feet from the one in the next camp site. Other sites were far more private. Also there was very little shade in my campsite and so it was either miserably hot or ridiculously windy. I was only tent camping without many amenities, so it could have been better if I had more, but the point is, there were better sites and I just couldnt tell from the photos online so be careful as to what you choose if youve never been there before.

I've camped at Jumbo Rocks many, many times and I love the park and all the wonderful areas in the park. The national park is like a huge playground for climbing and scrambling - you can do mild-mannered scrambling or world class climbing. I also like the trails in the park.

super clean and beautiful. we chose this campsite randomly and im so glad we did cause it has the best views of the rocks. they are literally apart of your campsite. had really nice campsite neighbors. would highly highly recommend this campsite if you wanna see one of the most beautiful parts of the parks.

The campground is a wonderful place, nestled among the rocks. We caught some amazing sunsets and stars. The sites, however, are really close to each other. While we were fortunate that no one booked the site immediately next to us during our stay if they had it would have been impossible to not know all of each others business. So just be aware / temper expectations. Overall, highly recommend a trip here to experience the expansiveness of the area.

Amazing to see the night sky and be among the rocks. This campground feels quite undisturbed for the number of sites.

Excellent campground. The lady there was awesome. The only issue we had was we couldnt see the whole space in the picture online and when we called the park it took 3 days for a callback and they werent sure it would work for our set up. Luckily it did but was stressful until we got there

The campsites were very crowded, with too many people. Just a reminder for everyone, if you have more than four people, you should get a group campsite at another location within Joshua tree park. It is not appropriate to have more than four people at a campsite, even if they are children. It ruins the experience for others.

Awesome experience.I'm from the East coast so the topography of the campground was like being on a different planet. I was surprised I couldn't see the Milky Way from the campsite, but the stars were indeed numerous (there are many places outside of the campground that likely would have yielded a more brilliant view). The campground definitely felt like I was at a National Park (and a really good one at that).Would definitely recommend.

Great location! Campsite next to bathroom and table/firepit. Could watch the sunrise from there. Super windy in January felt like i was going to fly away

Wonderful park with amazing landscape. It's largely accessible with a good number of places to pull off and take pictures. The Cholla Gardens are also well worth a visit! We stayed at Jumbo Rocks campsite, which is beautiful. We had a great location, right next to the rocks with plenty of space! Make sure you check pictures when booking - some sites are very small and on top of each other. We were there for a climbing trip and the accessibility of approaches is particularly nice. One disappointing note - we'd booked a Keys Ranch Tour that was canceled. Fair enough, except that all the communication about the cancellation was done through email, and there's little to no service in the park. As a result, we drove the the meeting location and waited around before finally assuming it must have been canceled. A recommendation for the Park Service: please put up a sign at the meeting location when you cancel events!

Very nice campground, sites were very close but the whole experience at Joshua Tree was the thing that mattered. Sunsets and sunrises were awesome.

Some sites are more secluded than others, but ours lacked privacy. I was just happy to get a spot, and despite it being very close to other sites, the scenery was gorgeous. Sites are tucked into beautiful rock formations (some more tucked than others). This campground is also centrally located near most of the best hikes in the park. Hike to skull rock and face rock directly from Jumbo Rocks. Go to Hidden Valley area for more hikes and day use.

We had a really great experience. Our reserved campsite was vacant and clean when we arrived. We had fun climbing around the campground for a couple hours until sunset. We had no campers on either side of our campsite. After dark it seemed luke we had the whole campground to ourselves. We woke up early to catch the sunrise at the top of ryan mt only a few miles away. The whole park was a clean enjoyable experience. I cannot wait to come back.
Super cool campground, spectacular sunrise and sunsets.

Fabulous surroundings, well equipped sights and rangers / staff were extremely helpful. Only complaint is that the campsites are very close together which is a problem if you have noisy neighbors - which we did until late at night

Great location, close to park entrance! Everything for a successful camp is located on site and the bathrooms are very close. Plus you can watch the sunrise from the rocks!
