Spot #20 was incredible. There was a mistake and someone was at our spot when we arrived at 2pm but with the park ranger's help and within 30 mins we had access to our reservation. Most of the spots in this area are close together but this one was like in a nook. Will be back the jumbo rocks were incredible!

Pretty sure we saw a UFO best experience of our desert roadtrip! The area was a good spot. The hike to skull rock run through the campground and the rock scrambling is always fun. At night we climbed the Jumbo rocks to the other side of the camp and some of our best stargazing of our trip. Make sure you catch the sunset from the Joshua trees, nothing beats the desert sunsets.

Sites are close together and shade is scarce. Its in a desert. But the surroundings are worth it

Great campgrounds nestled in between giant boulder piles that are great for climbing, scrambling, or in our case, a place to sit and drink coffee and watch the sunrise. Bathrooms are close by (no running water anywhere) and trash dumpsters. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit, and separate bbq grill. Be sure to look at details specific to your site because some have space for 1 or 2 cars.

Awesome campground w gorgeous views and prime access to trails. Buy your firewood before entering the park!! It gets chilly and windy at night.

Love Joshua Tree! This is a compact campground with little space between campsites, but many sites are tucked into rocky encloves for more privacy.

One of the coolest campgrounds we stayed at. Sunrise and sunset is gorgeous from the campsite and the rocks around it. Easy hike to skull rock. Coyotes were loud overnight which was cool to listen to as well.

The campground is a young child's dream. It is surrounded by gigantic and easy to climb rocks - hence the name. Hiking boots are a must as you can just scramble up the side of rocks and not fear slipping. The sites are a bit hard to figure out as the parking spots and actual fire pits are not aligned. This site is just to the left which actually made a good sized space we were able to claim. I would heed the recommendation of lower height tents as it became too windy for us to stay the entire reservation for fear our tent was going to collapse. We plan to go back again. Bathroom was nice for a pit toilet. If you want any shade, you have to bring your own with lots of stakes to keep it from flying away. It is desert camping so shade and water have to brought in. Also just a reminder that dogs are not allowed on trails in National Parks, so just leave them at home. Such a shame that people do not understand the why's and ignore this rule. And then leave little blue bags all over.

Campsite and restrooms were very clean. We had so much fun hiking around the campsite and exploring all the rock formations! Our kids, 11 and 7, were in desert playground heaven!

There was confusion with our neighboring campers. When we arrived they had set up their belongings on our site. But helpful tip: picnic tables are numbered in case theres confusion for other visitors.

Jumbo Rocks is a beautiful campground, with several well marked trails to hike and a very helpful staff.

I was surprised to learn that as a veteran, I have free access. I appreciated the ranger asking if I was a veteran and giving me a break when I did not have proof.

The best camping experience I have EVER had—and so private! The campsite was surprisingly empty, and there was a lot of wildlife to be seen. Coyotes traveled through the camp at night, but didn't bother anything. Make sure to pack in water. I camped here in September. It was HOT after 9am, but comfortable when I arrived at 6pm, and cool in the evening.
