Great campground. Dark sky nights were beautiful to look at the stars. I came in January, which was quieter than later in the spring. Flowers weren't blooming yet but it was excellent weather (dry, upper 60s in the day and upper 30s at night). There are bathrooms decently close to most campsites and it was easy to haul water in. I recommend filling water jugs at the West entrance- the other entrances were water bottle filling stations and difficult to fill 5 gallon jugs, which is what I had brought. The north entrance is easiest to get in if you need to get in/out of the park. The south entrance and Cottonwood campground are pretty far from the north entrance, but it's a beautiful drive.

The site was clean and easy to access. Rest rooms were close to in each direction and the other campers were private and did not cause an issues.

We spent 3 nights at Jumbo Rocks campground, site #017. The campground is located close to hiking trails and the eponymous jumbo rocks. The site itself is flat with room for at least 2 tents and has a fire ring, elevated BBQ, and concrete picnic table. Finally bathrooms are located nearby and they are kept clean and stocked. During our stay no fires of any type were allowed and there is no water available at this campground. Excellent experience and I recommend this campground.

We spent a single night tent camping, and was our first visit to the Park. The campsite was quiet and pleasant, and is in a central location for traveling to various locations within Joshua Tree.

We had a great time. Staff friendly, facilities clean. Jumbo rocks is such a beautiful and unique landscape. Buy extra long stakes, the wind was crazy at night and several in our group lost their canopies.

Jumbo Rocks is an excellent place to camp in Joshua Tree NP due to it's central location. Last year we camped at Indian Cove, which was very cool but necessitated a lot of driving. For a family with an elementary school-aged child, there was endless exploring. Star gazing at night is spectacular. There is zero cell service in most of the park, but we were able to send texts via T-Mobile statelite messaging. No potable water, so bring a bunch. The sites are mostly very small. Much smaller than other parks but neccesitated by the terrain. Fellow campers were very good about quiet hours, no late partying, etc. despite it being a Spring Break week. The most dissapointing thing was that that capmground was 100% booked for the week, however, there were MANY noshow sites. Nice to not be so croweded if you are staying there, but disappointing if you are trying to book a campsite. People should be better and cancel the sites they are not going to use. Be better, people.

The Joshua Trees and jumbo Rocks are the best views of the campground. So many animals visited the site. A night program introduced the sounds of animals in the park. What a Wonderful experience!

Very interesting trip! My first time camping at a national park and my first time camping off a adventure motorcycle. Fun trip with lots to explore. I did all the hikes out of the campground in the 24 hours I was there. I had spot #17 and I was good for my needs but there are other spots that are more interesting. No cell service or water available but there are fire pits and BBQ's that require wood or charcoal. There were pits toilets that were clean and stocked with toilet paper. The stars were amazing! Highly recommended !

This is my first time camping in a park like this. The children had a great time climbing and descending the big boulders all day long. It was very hot during the day, but I brought a large sunflock and was able to cool off in it.

Always a cool place to stay among the rocks and near a great hiking trail. Pit toilets are always a risky thing, but they were very clean this time. Thanks, park staff!

Incredible campground. One of the best Ive seen in a national park. Sites are nestled between amazing boulders. You could have a great time and never leave the campground.

I enjoyed my 4 nights at Jumbo Rocks. It is conveniently placed within the Park and, indeed, some amazing rock formations are right near the campground. The sites were quite private for such a large campground, And the amenities were adequate. Sometimes the outhouses needed servicing but they were not bad. Bring water! None is available on site.

Great family campground for kids. Tons of rocks to climb and a great trail to skull rock. Spent only one night and would have preferred another.

Joshua Tree and Jumbo Rocks are amazing. You can't go wrong and we keep coming back! This time, we enjoyed the Split Rock trail and the 49 Palm Oasis trail. The only downsides this visit (February, 2021) were due to COVID. We reserved our favorite spot 6 months in advance and it was cancelled when the park shut down due to COVID (understandable), but then when the park reopened, they just gave our spot to someone else, so we had to make a new reservation in a campsite that was too close to other campers (during COVID). I would expect that the organization would only fill every other campsite during pandemic to create more space. Other than that, our stay was fabulous as usual!

We were lucky to get a night in before the Stay at Home order. JTNP is amazing. Wish some folks had been more respectful of those of us with kids and kept it a little quieter after 10. The campsites vary greatly on size and closeness to others, so if possible, Google Map your site before booking to be sure it's what you want. Very cool spaces for a large campground though. Bring your own water.
