This campsite is awesome! There's a big rock face you can walk right up, and it feels secluded from the parking lot and surrounding campsites.

Stunning campsite amid the boulders with soft gravel footing and ample space for a 2- or 4-person tent. Short walk to site from parking lot. Very close to sites #4 & #6, recommend the three sites for a group of friends or family. Easy access to Skull Rock nature trail. Convenient to 29 Palms. Will be back!

Super quiet and clean. Camp number five was great. It had a huge rock. You could climb up on to see the stars. The site was quiet at bedtime. Will definitely come back.

Beautiful campground. Campsite was clean and well maintained. The only downside was the lack of a running water and because there are only pit toilets at this campground, people can be pretty careless with keeping the restrooms clean, nothing major but something to consider. You may want to bring a few cleaning supplies to clean the toilet before using.

Our camp site was AWESOME. Only thing is we arrived when it was dark and didnt realize we had to walk a little bit from the marked parking spot to our actual campsite, so be aware of this if you arrive late and cant see the layout. Picnic tables have the campsite number on them which is helpful. This site was nicely tucked in, good privacy even if between other sites. Id highly recommend it!

Amazing views !!! We were tucked away in the huge boulders - it was so cool to feel like we were there alone. Close to so many hiking trails, skull rock trail can be accessed from the campground. Favorite over black rock canyon

A little difficult to find site-associated amenities, but overall an excellent experience.

First time camping and visiting Joshua Tree and I can express this enough… TOTALLY WORTH IT! My husband and I loved finding trails and learning about all the things!
If you are looking for a more quiet campsite, I’d recommend reserving a site in the 40s+!

Campsite #5 was good would stay again. Provided decent shade for warmer months and rocks right there to climb on with great views. Far enough away from the bathrooms but also very easy to get to. Fire pit needed cleaning out - lots of ash so fire sat high and whipped around a lot when windy.

Site #5 is one of the best! Large spot (we had 6 of us in a large tent), shaded by rocks, secluded. Good picnic table. Close trash dumpsters. Beautiful sunset and overall scenery in the park. Kids loved climbing the jumbo boulders, but beware for the littles, rattlesnakes hang out at the top. My 11Yo daughter almost stepped on one because she didnt see it. Heard the coyotes at night. Vault toilet is a drawback but we knew that coming in. It worked for what we needed 1 night. Cant wait to come back and enjoy this place!

Great location in the park! Good size campsites among the rocks. No shade during the day so a canopy is recommended.

This is probably the best spot at Jumbo Rock. We were nestled between two Jumbo rocks. Kids had amazing time climbing up and down the rocks just in our site. It got hot during the day and since no shades we're around we ended up going into town to purchase a pop up canopy to cover our picnic table. We we're pretty bummed that they restricted camp fire during our stay but he night was so beautiful with the stars brightening our camp site. Would definitely bring the family here again. I reserved two spot for our group (4 & 5) but we ended up using only site 5 since it was able to accommodate both our tents.
