This is a wonderful campground, and I've been coming here yearly for most of my 68 years. The only thing I would wish for, is that the campground would be modified to reflect more the changes that have occurred in the RV travel industry. The majority of camp sites are for tenters only. Larger sites are needed for modern RV units. It's been decades since any modifications have been made (with the exceptions of the vault toilets).

A new kind of geology for me. The rocks looked like pillows. I should have reviewed the campsites better. Number 2 was in the shade the whole time I was there.

i dunno if it has to do with the desert climate or what, but these might be the cleanest campsite bathrooms in the state. woke up to a coyote symphony and distant quiet lightning. good times

We were not able to back into our site and having our vehicle close to the table. Otherwise, the site was great!

Amazing place to get away. No cell Phone signals, so you’re forced to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of your work life. Be aware that many of the campsites are fairly small, so calculate your tent foot print accordingly. Otherwise, enjoy the clean high desert air and crisp night sky!

Nice campground in the heart of JTNP. Site 2 was pretty busy with traffic in and out all day in the form of hikers doing the Skull Rock loop, vehicular traffic looking for restrooms, campers coming and going, and campground looky-loos. Love the rocks surrounding this site, but campers in site 2 need to be prepared for people being constantly around during the day. If it’s available during high season though, sometimes you have to accept the people with the Park to truly enjoy its nighttime beauty. Would stay in Site 2 again but would look for other sites first. We were in here with a 17’ travel trailer and tow vehicle and fit fine within the parking lines. There is a dumpster at the east end of the site that cannot be blocked, so keep that in mind for how one might fit.

The campground was beautiful but there was only one Site designated as wheelchair accessible, and it met none of the requirements for accessibility. The Camphosts were very accommodating and helped us park our RV and van with wheelchair lifts safely along the road. We also found none of the amphitheaters in the park were wheelchair accessible. Federal parks have been mandated to provide accessibility for all park users since 1978, and yet 45 years later they have shrugged this responsibility. Very sad that the leadership at Joshua Tree NP thinks its just fine to discriminate people with mobility impairments.

Definitely helpful to research trails prior to visit as there is no reception deep in the park. Campsites 1 & 2 (Jumbo Rocks) are big and shady, but you do have people pulling in for a quick walkabout at all hours. There are other big sites further back.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
