Great place with jumbo rocks all the way around and in the campsite. Sites 1 and 2 are very tight for a camp trailer. Fairly close to the road and campground entrance. Traffic died down after 10 people were respectful for the most part. Not all that level but it worked.

I want to start by saying that I truly love Jumbo Rocks Campground in Joshua Tree National Park. This was not my first stay at Campsite 1 near the campground entrance, and I specifically choose this site whenever its available. It offers great afternoon shade and features a large rock with a gentle slope behind the site, which really adds to the experience. This review is not a criticism of the campsite or park facilities. Rather, it reflects concerns about the behavior of other park visitors during my stay. While camping here over Presidents Day weekend, I had no fewer than six different couples wander directly through my campsite as if it were a public viewing area. Some visitors even took photos of me to show how wild the place was to foreign tourists. The experience felt much like sitting in your own living room while strangers walk in, observe what youre doing, and treat your private space as a spectacle.Local volunteers attempted to limit errant road traffic when the small parking area filled up, but after they left around 3:00 PM, a large Ram extended-cab truck parked directly next to my vehicle and a family of eight got out. When I asked why they were parking in my paid campsite, they responded that they were just going to climb on the rocks. I had to repeatedly ask them to move their vehicle and leave the site.I came here seeking peace and quiet, and while the setting itself is beautiful and serene, from sunrise to sunset the area around Campsite 1 was frequently overrun with gawking tourists and photo-seekers. I hope park management can help reinforce respect for campers reserved spaces so visitors can fully enjoy the experience this campground offers.

My family and I stay Fri-Sun at site 1. The sight is spacious and clean, the only downside is everyone entering or exiting will look in the sight, not too much privacy.I had a 6 person tent and 2 other large structures and never felt cramped. The campground is well maintained with only no flush toilets available. I highly recommend this campground!

I stayed at 2 different sites during my time at jumbo rocks and when I realized my second night was at site 1 I panicked at first after having saw how close the current campers were to the road and the site looked awful. If I had service I would have tried to find a new one but I didnt so we checked into site 1 our second night and I actually loved it. Not sure why the other campers were at the road hanging out but it was very spacious, loved the privacy we got from the rocks and overall just enjoyed the site. The only complaint I have is that the closest vault toilet was one of the stinkiest Ive encountered and Ive been in a lot

The weather was pretty bad, but thats not your fault. We camp in a van and when we left for the day we left our levelers and chocks. Someone stole them while we were gone. Also, not your fault, but really disappointing. I think its unfortunate that a hiking trail goes right down the main road. We were very close to the entrance, so there were a lot of people walking by ALL DAY. The park is beautiful but this wasnt one of our favorite National Park campgrounds

This campground is heavily trafficked on the weekends due to a trail from Skull Rock nearby routing through the main road. We had several hikers cut through our campsite during the day unexpectedly due to proximity to the trail route. Camp host wasn't seen all weekend, though someone did verify campers were in the registered sites. Most sites were maxed out or overfull in allowable people. The rocks gave plenty of shade which is great in summer, but in winter meant that solar panels were less effective. Wildlife was abundant Friday and Saturday, by Sunday they had gone to ground due to the influx of visitors.

Really enjoy the beauty of Joshua Tree Jumbo Rocks campground, and will return. However, it is important to check for wind advisories out that way. Got caught in high winds overnight in my small tent. Although it was beautiful to see the sunrise because I hardly slept a wink, I would probably try a different place in the Park next time to avoid so much wind.

I loved my stay here! You feel very safe and secure because of alle the big rocks around you. I definetly recommend to bring some chairs and watch the Nightsky, I couldnt believe how breathtaking it is. You dont really have cellphone service but there is a sign at the entrance that tells you, so no surprises there. The individual campsites are very well placed on the campground, sadly i wasnt able to back in to mine. I absolutely recommend this campground if you want to get out of the city and enjoy beautiful nature and wildlife.. if youre lucky you might ser some turtles.

Beautiful area as always… loved the campsite! The bathrooms could’ve been a little cleaner, but overall a great experience! We noticed that there were several sites open even though online, it says they are fully booked. That was disappointing because we’d love to come back! It’s difficult to get a reservation online if it says fully booked but in reality there are sites available.

I love Jumbo Rocks. The campsites are magical and pretty private. Like the rest of the park, its beyond beautiful, clean and well-maintained. I would (and will!) go back.
