Lovely Campground, but the site was not level (not even close). Tough for a camper van

Amazing starry night and desert views. The toilets were clean and had running water and toilet paper, but no lights. So don't forget to pack your flashlights!

We drove into the campground quite late (around 11pm), very easily found our campsite, and enjoyed making a fire in the provided pit. The other included amenities were functional and as clean as one could hope for (picnic bench, water spout, and bathrooms). The stars were absolutely incredible on the cloudless night, this site is absolutely worth a visit!

There was a burn ban during our stay however there was no one enforcing it in the campgrounds nor was there any signs at the campground reminding guest of it. More then half the campground guests were having fires during my weekend stay at the campground

I've visited this campground a few times over 20 years, and it's always great. It's well laid out and well maintained. Even though it was full it didn't feel too crowded. The walks that leave from its east side (to Mastodon peak etc.) are easy, well marked, and snake through beautiful rock outcroppings. My 4- and 8-year-old nieces loved them. There are nice interpretive materials at the start. As a tent camper, I sometimes wish there were one or two fewer RVs at campgrounds, but I know that's a losing battle. And for the most part the RV operators here didn't run their generators too late or early. Jumbo Rocks campground further north in the park is also great. And Joshua Tree is, of course, a national treasure. You probably know this but the desert gets cold at night!

What a beautiful area. We could never imagined that we would enjoy Joshua Tree as much as we did. Definitely coming back!

Beautiful dry camping in the dessert. Remote at south end of park. Don't miss Mastedon trail.
