Not a quiet campground, but it's very nice. Nice views. Nice sites. A hiking trail leads right out of the campground. Bathroom was good - water, stocked with toilet paper. I'd stay there again.

The camp ground itself was very well kept and the facilities were in excellent condition. Cant beat the super low light pollution for star gazing

We love the high desert, so it's an easy five star rating. But there are things we'd do different returning to this campground. Due to the booked-up nature of Cottonwood for spring, we had to choose an interior site on Loop B. This made it difficult and time-consuming (especially on the curved section of road) to back in our 22 foot R-Pod with our 20 foot RAM 1500. Then having to disconnect and re-park the truck next to the camper left no space under our retractable canopy to sit in the shade; we had to set everything up behind the camper and truck, where the awning doesn't cover. So in the future we'd try to pick a "pull-in" site on the outer edge, where the truck and camper can stay in-line. The star-gazing here is great, but we had a 96% full moon, so among our party of 4 (2 other friends had adjacent site), we only saw like 5 meteors combined from the Lyrids over two nights! Darn moon! So, for long rigs, pick a site on the outer ring, and try to time your stargazing with the new moon. Bathrooms were clean, but bring your own hand soap as this Nat'l park does not provide it. And don't forget your levelling blocks.

Nice campsite with an easy walk to the bathroom and visitors center. A nice trail left from the campground and other hikes were available by driving.

We really enjoyed our visit. The Cottonwood campground is well looked after and the campsites are large and situated so they feel quite private. The views are amazing and nearby hikes are great.

We loved this campground more than we expected! Its located on the SE side of Joshua Tree, which is less busy and quieter, giving us a more peaceful experience. The sites at the campground are a nice size, and bathroom is a close walk for everyone. Bathrooms nice and clean. Views of the stars at night and the sunrise were both lovely!

This is supposed to be a dark sky park. RV campers persistently had outside lights on at night. Rules regarding the size of RV's were not enforced. There were many long 5th wheel trailers with side outs open that encroached the narrow right of way through the sites.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
