The new moon night sky was stunning. One night there was a special visit by pack(s) of coyotes. They drank from our dog's water dish but didn't disturb anything. Wide variety of vocalization...unforgettable. If neighbors forget to keep their noisemaking down in the later evening, it works to have a gentle but firm chat with them. They can opt for backcountry camping instead of the campground if that suits them better.

Sites are very sloped. Be prepared with levelers and blocks or drive north to Belle.

Camp sites are fairly close to each other but surprisingly the camp site was very quite, relaxing and clean. My husband and I LOVED camping there. We will definitely be back.

Great experience! While we were around other sites, we definitely had enough privacy. The bathrooms were clean. We had a great view of the sunrise as well!!

The only downside is this campground is about a half hour from the Cholla Gardens, and even further from other park landmarks. There is a small park visitor center towards the entrance of the campground, so definitely stop and pick up a map if you’re farther away from what you want to see in the park!

Also not a downside but more of an FYI, there is no cell service on this side of the park :)

This was my first time at Joshua Tree’s campground. Everything was going good until it was time to sleep. I thought that starting at 10pm everyone was supposed to keep noise at a minimum. We went inside our tent and tried to sleep. First of all there were two families a few campsites down, and were fighting/arguing all through the night, it went on about 2 hours. They were loud and obnoxious. Saying nothing but the F-word cursing back and forth. I lost count on how many times the F-word was used. I guarantee that no one was able to sleep. Then at the same time, at the campsite behind us, there were a group of people that showed up to party with the group that was already camping there. I couldn’t tell how many people were there, but it must have been about 10 or so. Even though they weren’t playing music through the night, they’re drinking and chit-chatting was loud, loud enough to keep us up until around 3am, when they left. All these loud shenanigans happening all throughout the night and no park ranger/camp worker in-site monitoring the campgrounds throughout the night. I expected to hear the natural sounds of the desert , coyotes, etc and not obnoxious drunk people all night. What a disappointment.

Camp sites are large and the scenery is beautiful. We were able to do some good hikes right out of the campground. I highly recommend this park during early Months of the year.
