It's the desert. It's dry, it's hot, etc... Camp ground was great. I was lucky and had the water spicket at my site on front of the restrooms.

Our place at the campground was like a parking spot in front of the bathroom and thats it. Our pickup camper, 20 feet long, almost didnt fit. Glad we only spend one night there. No soap and no paper to wash our hands.

We got in just before sunset, so not a lot of time to survey the area before dark, but our area was easily accessible, very quiet (Thursday night) and a great place to starwatch. The facilities were nearby and very clean, and we had a nice place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading out to tour the park.We HAD planned to get in earlier, but were thwarted by an over-an-hour stopped in traffic jam on the 10 east of the park entrance. Ahhhtraffic. The park was GREAT!!

Our group of 6 enjoyed this site. We used the campfire ring, the bathrooms, and the trash bins. A lot of people used the potable water spigot near our site B07. The site was pretty flat and fit two tents. The picnic table was very useful. Trash gets picked up on Saturday morning.

Awesome campsite to sleep under the starlit sky. Appreciate the clean bathrooms with real toilets and sinks with running water. Drinking water provided tastes good. Rangers at the Cottonwood visitor center were friendly and very helpful. Look forward to visiting again.

Nice quiet clean campground. Oasis in the desert.

We were able to squeeze our 31 foot 5th wheel trailer into our spot along the roadway in "B" loop. It was very tight along the adjacent road. There was a bathroom with parking spots alongside so this gave a bit more room for cars to pass. The dumpster should be moved over a few more feet to provide passing vehicles additional room to pass. We could have parked a bit more off the roadway if vegetation along the road had been cut back a little more.
thank you...

Had a very nice hike from the campground, and appreciated the flush toilet bathrooms and RV dump station. It is 45 minutes to the main Joshua Tree sights, so not close but that was not an issue.

Overall, the camp sites were very marginal and in need of a major remodel. Most were pull along, not back in or pull through. The site we had was very narrow, which may work if you are setting up a tent on the dirt, but was poor with a trailer/RV.

I would encourage the park to look at the campground setup at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument as a model for how to design sites with no hookups, but a very pleasant experience. With a remodel coming in the next few years (mentioned by the camp host), this could become a really nice campground to stay at.

I look forward to the return of the astronomy night programs. Absence of a campground host resulted in at least one noisy site after 1AM., and lights left on ruining the Dark Sky Park.

Great location. Tips: get local firewood from the nearby gas station at Chiriaco Summit; get up early and hike the Mastodon Peak Loop before everyone else arrives for an amazing solitary view out across the Salton Sea.

This is a quiet spot on a ridge that's a bit far from the heart of the park, but has only about 35 spaces. And on the ridge, it gets a breeze...which in winter can be cold!
