This was a great place to start our wonderful time at Joshua Tree National Park. We had a nice level spot with good views and stargazing opportunities. We could have done without nearby generator operation after approved hours and amplified music, but it was mostly a distraction and we enjoyed our time there.

All in all, it was a pleasant trip.

Great campsite, away from the crowds at the northern end of the park. Several good hikes from the campsite.

This is a very level site with lots of space for our 10 x 14 tent to the left of the fire pit not shown in the image. The bathrooms were clean and fresh water available. Cell service was not available at the campsite but was available at the south entrance.

Our experience at Cottonwood Campground was wonderful. The campsites are large, with a lot of room for a couple of large tents. Bathrooms have running water and flush toilets and were well maintained. The camp hosts were extremely helpful and friendly.

Best time to be here is on the weekdays. Weekends the campground is full of young groups who come to party, BUT they do turn it off by 10 pm. I am happy to see kids out enjoying camping and nature, but weekends are much louder and smokefilled than the weekdays. Beautiful location, hikes to Mastodon peak and Palm Oasis are good day walks. It is very far from anything else in the park, but we love it that way.

Really enjoyed our stay, beautiful campground. We were in A35 which was not level, had a great view, near bathrooms. Site was long enough for our 25' Airstream and truck to fit. Site was a pull in. Loved it here. Great hike with informative signs!

Awesome campground. Not too far from southern entrance, so its a great first stop if you wanna trek north and see the whole park. Nice bathrooms and running water, which you wont find it much of the central areas of park. Beautiful night sky and really close to mastodon peak hike, which I highly recommend!

The campground is beautiful and it's possible to walk to a very nice trail. The bathrooms were clean and large. The campsite itself was large. Our parking spot was not level, so much so that our levelers were not enough to compensate.

Nice campground with flush toilets, fresh water, and a dump station which us RV'ers appreciate. Found it a little strange that the bathrooms have no electricity whatsoever - bring a flashlight. There is also no cell coverage whatsoever. We would have liked to communicate with family members that were joining us in the campground as well as research other areas and hikes within the park. Even book another night, which is only possible to do online. It's a shame the visitors center a short ways down the road does not provide an open wifi connection like other parks, for this purpose. Site 25 was adequately sized for our 25 ft. RV, even with our driver's side slide out, though it is tight. Most sites are like this it seems. We also had to level a bit as there was a slight slope. #25 also has a nice open area around the fire pit which made it excellent for visiting family to gather around the campfire.

We had a wonderful camping night for stargazing. The stars were so beautiful. Milky way hang through the entire sky. I was speechless when I looked at the stars. What a wonderful night.

Lacks the large rocks of other parts of Joshua Tree but has nice views and the site we had was a good size.

This is a really nice campground. Its away from the major attractions in the park though. Its extremely clean for a campground, although you would expect that from a National Park right?

This is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that my whole experience with recreation.gov was a complete clusterf--k. The website is flawed, and it drove me crazy. When I called the customer service number, the people were very nice and did their best to help me, but it took forever and I wasted two hours of time I could have spent having fun in Joshua Tree.

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting the park. Both nights we had coyotes howling near us - such a thrill for us!! Our first night there was the best night for viewing the meteor shower, so there were others that came into the campground that did not have reservations to stay. They were talking and noisy until I and another nearby camper yelled at them just before and after 2:00 am! No respect. The dates that we stayed also coincided with a failure with their water system, so the bathrooms were closed. That was fine - we could deal with it. They supplied port-a-potties, but after the second day there was no TP and they were dangerously full. They needed to be serviced better :(

Beautiful campsite. We love it here. There are a few nice hikes right out of the campground and fun off road trails close by.
