Lower elevation, lovely campground in the southern part of the park. Fewer rocks and no Joshua trees, but still a very nice place to stay in the desert. Saw scorpions with a black light out on nighttime nature walks, and the oasis is it is nearby too.

It was a nice place to stay for a night as we were headed out of the southern end of the park. Had a bit of trouble leveling the camper, but there was a water spigot right at the rear of the side. The inside of the loop has sites pretty close to each other. Could hear everything the neighbors were talking about. Heard the coyotes yipping at night.

In the low desert part of the park, so away from the frenetic upper part of the park. Quiet. Surprisingly, the outer camp sites were on the road, and not pulled in.

Beautiful hikes nearby and the scenery around camp was beautiful too.Only complaint is that other campers were loud past quiet hours. Not your fault, unless rangers typically go through camp to enforce quiet.

Nice campground. Running water and porcelain pottys. Very clean. Great view of the stars.

This campground is well cared for and planned. Plenty of room for plants between the sites and beautiful vistas. Good tables and fire pits at each site. Website for reservations is hard to use and you have to leave the park to get a signal to use it. You cannot stay longer without leaving g the park to get a signal and registering again. Trails near Cottonwood are numerous and easy. Wish the park had elevation gain listed for each trail and a printed map available to carry along. The drive through the park to other features is long and magnificent! I will come again.

Cottonwood campgrounds was a good choice for our first visit to Joshua Tree but think we would look for a campsite in the Boulders next time!

Nice camp ground. Very clean bathrooms. The new reservation system is bad. Lots of empty sites when the website said they were taken.

Good site away from main area of the park. Clean bathrooms
The campsite was beautiful. Lots of shade, nice view, very large pad as well as a tent pad. The path down to the lake behind the site was great and the trail along the lake was beautiful. I even saw some deer in the evening. The bathrooms/showers definitely need updating. In one facility the women’s shower was out of order and the men’s had no hot water. In the other facility, the men’s shower was out of order and the women’s shower had no hot water.

Clean bathrooms near by, beautiful view of the stars at night. Water is accessible near by the camp site.
Camp hosts had to be moved offsite so there was no enforcement of RV generators running at all hours. Not hosts fault. Generator hours need to be boldly posted or all those seeking natural sounds will suffer at ALL hours of the day. All the rest good except with Covid I arrived and one of my two reserved sites was occupied. The people graciously moved promptly.
Cottonwood is a newer campground in Joshua Tree, nice roads without potholes like Black Rock and Indian Cove. RV sites are smaller in Cottonwood and large RV's with slide rooms into the roadway are not advised. Fire rings and picnic table are excellent and there is plenty of space for tent camping. Water spigots are close by if needed and there is a very nice outdoor campground theater. Most back in sites will accommodate 24 foot RV's and get you out of roadway traffic. Large boulders block paved sites so it is best not to anticipate hanging off the pavement with vehicles. Cottonwood is close access to Colorado desert sites and attractions where the park is less crowded. Well worth spending a night to stop and see southern areas of the park when coming and going. It can be windy in Joshua Tree at times so it is best to be prepared for strong breezes even if there are none during a visit.
Beautiful space and a great way to access the less visited parts of JTNP

Pay close attention to the weather forecast and plan accordingly specially in the winter day and overnight temperatures range widely. Wear layer of clothing. Hey but that’s part of the experience.
I stayed at A10, which provided plenty of space for parking and was level and clean. Restroom was clean and trails were nearby. Would stay here again and enjoy the night sky.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
