Awesome campground. We stayed in 53. We liked the location. The bathrooms were awful but that might have been due to the govt shutdown.

It was an amazing experience. spring time in the desert. Very clean and safe campsite. I highly recommend. Not too far from the main park entrance. Nice trials around the site too. Be warned there are no showers. I will def return next year. I will also recommend to family and friends.

People are too loud at the campsite. Lots of talking, laughing and playing music throughout our stay. Quiet needs to be enforced so everyone can enjoy their visit.

In the campground theres a visitor center and quite big bathroom. Its away enough from the town to see the Milky Way.

No Ranger to check in with. No one came to see if I was a paid visitor.

Bathrooms were very clean and staff was very helpful and friendly. Sites are very close together and cell phone service and internet had a strong signal. (Verizon)Unfortunately, there were campers next to us were very loud, playing music, yelling that could be heard throughout the campground. I asked them to quiet down after midnight, but the music and yelling continued. In addition, 3 cars pulled in at 11pm and were pounding stakes into the ground and talking very loudly to set up their tents and woke up kids.

Unfortunately, our boy scout troop had an unpleasant encounter with the park ranger, which tainted a lot of the positives they had camping in Joshua Tree. Specifically, regarding this Recreation.gov site: it doesn't post all the rules of the campgrounds. There's a line somewhere on your reservation sheet that says you should always check the campground for rules, but since there's more than a page of rules spelled out, we assumed the rules were all there. For capacity, it said 6 people and 2 vehicles - which we complied with. But when we got to the campground and set up, we had 6 or seven tents (many campers were tenting single) and the ranger was incensed that we weren't following the 3 tent limit rule - which we didn't know about. Not only was he really mean and nasty, even though we immediately said we'd change tents and put more people in each one, but we got a $130 citation. Mind you, this was at 9:30 PM with 15 scouts under the age of 15, after we'd only arrived 1-1/2 hours earlier, set up in the dark, and were ready for bed. Reserver beware! Check the actual campground for the rules - don't rely on what you receive from Recreation.gov!

Second time we stay for the weekend. Even if the campground is not in the main entrance to the park, I think it is one of the best ones. They don't sell wood, I had to get it in town

Great campground and we really appreciated the online reservation after selecting our site at 6pm on the evening we arrived.

Left. High winds. Late at night to set up. Uneven ground and sand. Couldn't do it. Drove home.
