Nice, large cement picnic table. Clean bathrooms, but no lights. Limited number of water spigots. Campsites have a bit of a slope to them. Did hear traffic and barking dogs from nearby housing.

10 years ago I loved coming here, the terrain has changed due to flooding and Ive noticed there is no longer a host or Rangers that patrol. Campers that come here no longer respect nature nor campground rules. 12am has become the new quiet hours, not 10pm. Nice bathrooms and I love that theyve added dome covers to the fire pits.

We had a great stay in Black Rock campground. The bathrooms were clean, and there was a lot of good hiking right from the campground.

The campground is beautiful. If there were one small thing I might request, it would be to install red LED lights in the bathrooms, and put them on a night timer.

Site 85 wasnt very level for our tent. The roadway throughout the campsite are chewed up. The views were awesome. No light in the restroom but sinks and flush toilets were nice.

The spots at this campground are VERY close to one another. On our first night, the group across from us was up until 12 playing music and talking and then they were awake again at 4 am talking and making breakfast. Unfortunately, this kept us up almost the whole night and we could barely sleep. When they left that day, we were hopeful that they were just a very loud group. Unfortunately, however, there was a new group of 8 across from us that night and similarly, they were up until 2:30 in the morning playing music and talking. At one point, we asked them to turn down the music because it was past quiet hours, and they said “no- it’s already very low”. This was extremely frustrating that nobody was following or enforcing the quiet rules here. Additionally, there was not a great and flat spot for our tent at the site. The only slightly flat spot was directly next tot he fire pit, which made us nervous to have a fire due to the fact that it was so windy.

Joshua tree is beautiful. The campground sites are small, some sites are sloped making it difficult to place a tent and there is a fair amount of light pollution from the town. The facilities were clean.

Nice campground, little privacy.

Definitely recommend this campground for visiting Joshua Tree NP. It has water (no showers) and is a 10 minute drive from groceries and supplies. About 30 minutes from the main road through the park. Site 85 did not have much flat space so we had to set up our tent closer to the fire pit than I would like. So I'd pick a different site if available but would not hesitate to choose this campground with its water over the others within the park. Plenty of Joshua trees and yuccas to remind you you're in a unique landscape.

we were able to snag two spots here, after not thinking we would have a chance to stay at an established Joshua Tree Campground (sadly dispersed camping in the area is really lacking)! its a spacious campground, with real toilets (but no paper towels or hand dryers), water spigots, picnic tables, fire rings, hiking trails and even a little gift shop (with cancelation stamps, if you have a parks passport)! dog friendly too! some beautiful views and lots of joshua trees! site #67 is huge, with some nice shade from the joshua trees. site #85 is much narrower, with less shade, but still lovely views. we wish they had showers, more level campsites, and an access road directly into the park (you have to drive through the west entranceits about a 15-20 min drive).

Beautiful location. The roads within the campground are TERRIBLE ! Have been like that for years. Why can't they improve them ??

The view from our site was without a doubt one of the most beautiful I've experienced. It was cold, much colder than I expected as that was my first night camping in a desert . I thought I was prepared but I shivered quite a bit. The view when I woke up for coffee made it totally worth it. Also, I loved falling asleep to the sound of the coyotes nearby. They weren't too close but their calls were beautiful.

Black Rock campground was a good choice for first time car campers. Our family included young teens who loved the metal firepit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. The nearby restrooms were always clean. Water was also nearby, so we didnt have to pack gallons in the car. Our 4 person tent barely fit into the space allotted for it so I'd try to get a larger site next time. The drawback was there weren't many nice hiking trails near the Campground so we had to drive 30-40 minutes to access scenic hiking.

Camp hosts were so kind and engaging. The husband and wife couple are from upstate NY and share so many great resources with us. Beautiful site. Clean. Completely trash free. The toilets with plumbing were a surprise and were very well placed - we are used to campgrounds deep inside the park with only vaulted toilets.

We FROZE because it snowed. We boiled wanted and put it in a Nalgene and tossed it in our sleeping bag to warm up. It was also very windy but we know to prepare better next time. Destination recommendation is Nomad Ventures climbing and camping store just in town - their staff were incredibly knowledgeable about the area.

The camp spot is a little far from the entrance to the park but it is still wild enough that at 2am, a band of coyotes was heard around the campsite. Im sure they woke everyone up because they were fighting and howling for at least 20min. It was amazing!!

We were at site 85! Some info about this site, its long and hilly. We had 3 small tents on this site and there was a whole section we didnt use. Table & fire pit were cool. No neighbors directly next too and theres some shrubs but we made our own privacy with or EZ-up and some tarp! I wouldnt pick this site but for last minute, Ill take it!! Loved having the convenience of having Walmart 8 minutes away. (Pretty sure we went there about 6 times total ) Sound does travel in the desert so we heard everyone pretty well into the night but that really didnt bother us. Campground it beautiful with Joshua trees all around us! The bathroom was really close and so clean! For it being booked up I never ran into anyone in the bathroom so that was cool. I did see a mouse run from underneath my tent. And there were some Beatles around at night and some big red ants during the day. Just make sure you always close your tent and dont leave food & trash out!

Camp hosts are incredible. The facilities are well kept. The cell reception was great as well. Although the campsites were close to each other, thanks to the shrubs it still felt secluded. The only con I had was that folks walked through our campsite at night walking to the restroom.
