Site was just fine & accommodated our 19 camper van, with nice views of the surrounding terrain. Be prepared to use leveling jacks/blocks or deal with a slight slope at night. This site is off of an asphalt loop, there should be no problems accessing it even with 2WD or low clearance. Its close to bathrooms but not *too* close. The visitor center is quite nice. Not a lot of vegetation for privacy (duh, its the desert) but the sites were reasonably spaced out. Id use this campground and site again.

Roads within the campground are severely deteriorated; pulling a trailer requires great care and caution (especially for a small one like mine). Individual campsites are uneven and unlevel. Water locations are far apart; the water spigot nozzles are very large making it difficult to fill bottles or closed containers (buckets would be easy).

Campground is in a good location, close to town and close to Joshua Tree National Park. The road in the campground is really rough and narrow. Would not advise arrive after sunset. Some not nice camping spots but alot of them are really close together with minimal foliage or barrier between sites. Bathrooms are clean and basic.

This campground was perfect for our second trip to Joshua Tree. We had already done a lot of the main attractions along Park Blvd the first time around, so Black Rock was perfect because we got to explore a different part of the park. The Panorama Loop and Warren Peak hike was the highlight of our trip, and it was so nice to be able to leave right from the campground. Shoutout also to the wonderful camp hosts who lent us a can opener!

Friday night there was a large group partying til 3 am with very loud music, no rangers or park host stopped it. Then on Saturday we were told the nature center and gift shop were open until 4:30. We went up at 3:50, some of our scouts wanted to get some souvenirs like water bottles and stickers, we were told they were closed and we had to come back the next day that only the building was open til 4:30 and we should drive over to Joshua Tree if we wanted to buy something. This was after we had specifically asked about the gift shop...... We didn't go back the next day

Most sites were very un-level. Ended up parking all the way through the site, putting my front tires in a lower area (rain runoff) and still needed to lift the back tires. Nice to have cell service though after having been in the park most of the time. Bathroom was clean and always had paper. Office staff was a bit rude but very knowledgable. Like all of Joshua tree the maps could be greatly improved as finding hikes was always an ordeal. Overall good experience and large campground

I loved this spot, great location. A near by site was playing very loud music late into the night, other than that, no complaints.

Beautiful location to see stars at night. also very close to town and to the park entrance.Sites are pretty wide and flat. The only bad thing about this campground is the roads within it. they are in really bad shape, be careful if you have a sedan/small car.
