Campground is beautiful and I would certainly recommend and return. Roads within the campground are in dire need of resurfacing and bathrooms are due for an update. Otherwise, no complaints.

Im sure everyone is aware that this campground is due for an upgrade. Roads need to be rebuilt and the campground could use a redesign. My desires would include more space and privacy between campsites.The area is beautiful and has so much potential.

We enjoyed a great three nights tent camping at Black Rock in January. The staff at the Nature Center were very knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. We greatly enjoyed learning some tips (including making sure to download the NPS app and all of the Joshua Tree assets before heading into the interior of the park). Black Rock's water was accessible ,and the restrooms got the job done. The campground also is very accessible to some cool day hikes, such as Westside Loop and High View, and has LOTS of birds.

Awesome place, more quiet then the other part of the park but well served with nice trails.

A wonderful place to stay. This was our first camping trip with our toddlers and it was great fun. We were able to make small hikes up the surrounding hills with our boys and we had a wonderful time exploring together. Highly recommend asking the front desk for the Junior Rangers book for something fun for the kids to do.

The Range Mike was not friendly or nice. Along with the lady who worked at the desk when I arrived. That was a turn off as I was with my granddaughter on our first road trip. I asked questions and was given sharp rude responses. I have always been treated well by Park Rangers.

Roads and signs for campsites are non existent got jammed in dead end 2 times trying to find our campsite on the narrow pothole ridden roads. Once we found our pull thru campsite was unclear which road or which direct to take to enter the site after several trys we figured it out but fire pit and picnic table ended up in back of our RV . The location is beautiful among the Joshua trees but the signage & campground roads need to be addressed badly also the washrooms are also poorly identified couldn't find ours glad we only stayed 1 night . This park has great potential but has clearly been neglected.

this campground is in need of updating. The roads to the campsites are falling apart and it poor shape. There are plenty of ruts in the roads around the campground which make possibility of injury likely. Trees are so close to the road that maneuvering a mid size camper caused damage to my unit. The campsites themself are nice.

Black Rock campground has nice facilities and we liked our site #20. It had plenty of room for 2 tents and a small RV. It was mostly flat. The big cement picnic table was uncomfortable and hard to squeeze onto the bench. One of the water spigots was broken but there was another one nearby. The road near our site was freshly paved, but other roads in the campground were in bad shape. Our last day there we had high winds. We saw one small tent blow about 50 yards.We did one short hike near the campground and other walks around the park. The walk we liked best was the Guided walk by a Ranger at Cap Rock. We did not like the Black Rock Nature center. There was only a store and art exhibit. The best visitors center out of all the centers was in the town of Joshua Tree, however, it was small. The other 2 centers were not as informative unless you like reading all about the Indians. We also enjoyed the Cholla Cactus garden. It was pretty but there was not much information about the cactus.

15 minutes from the west entrance, quiet neighbors, dump station nearby. The ranger station wasnt far and rangers were friendly and helpful. Roads are bumpy.

I reserved site 020 site unseen. If I could leave no stars, I would.
Upon arrival to Black Rock Canyon Campground there was no entrance station to receive a map or any park information. The roads in the campground were atrocious, filled with huge potholes. I camped across from the host who ran their generator all night. The host did nothing about the dog barking and unruly campers next to us. I informed the host of the barking dog and unruly campers, they informed me there was nothing they would do about it.
The bathrooms were unusable due to extremely poor sanitary conditions.
I had made reservations for four nights and only stayed one.
I will not ever stay at Black Rock Canyon Campground again and do not recommend it.

The facilities were excellent but the weather (wind and cold) prevented us from staying longer. We enjoyed the hiking trails and would have stayed longer weather permitting. Joshua Tree Nat;l Park is truly a destination for rock climbers and lovers of beautiful scenery.

Perfect spot

The trails are excellent and well marked. We took the Hi-View trail and the West Loop trail which we enjoyed. Starring up at the night sky the Milky Way was dramatic in its sweeping expanse beyond the limits of imagination.

We had a great stay in this campground! Just as a note for others, you are very close to your neighbors, but for us it wasn't an issue at all.
@ValL602 · Camped on Jun 30, 2021 at Campsite #20
We loved it this time because it was the low season when temperatures reach the 100s, so they're were few campers and it was quiet. I do not recommend it from fall to spring when it gets crazy, and you never know if your neighbors are here to enjoy nature or to party
@DeniseL299 · Camped on May 2, 2021 at Campsite #20
I really appreciated their efforts to socially distance by only having every other site booked. Overall a fun experience but restrooms can use a little more attention
